There are pros and cons to both an early cut and a post Jun 1 cut. It's a marginal decision. The Seahawks don't have to rush this and when there's no clear benefit to an early action the best policy is normally to be patient. Maybe he's fully healthy by May and with the FA market effectively over he's willing to sign a low value and low risk contract. If not he can be cut when it best suits the team. Either way he won't be with the team on his current contract in camp for July/August because the reward isn't worth the risk.

I said it once & I'll say it again, if it had been up to me, the 2nd time he went after the independent doctor on the sidelines would have been the last down he ever played for the Seahawks.

I thought I heard that from a salary cap perspective it was close to even cost wise to cut him this year or next.

He has previously been paid money that hasn't yet been accounted for in the cap. Some of that money will be accounted for this year and the rest of it will be accounted for in 2025 provided he is still on the books as of Jun 1. Not accounting for the dead money would be a plus between Jun 1 and the end of the 2024 NFL year. The downside is that the Seahawks would have to keep his $16.5M salary on the books until then Jun 1. The options are: agree a cheaper contract, cut Feb/Mar, or cut post Jun 1.

So what would be the best course of action for a team that wants to move on from Mr Yikes?

MM & JS will not allow Adams back on the field as a Seahawk mark my words. They will be looking for guys that are available to make plays on the field.
No more rah rah he's still a week or two away crap. Dudes attitude was so sour at the end of the season he wasn't traveling with the team. I have to believe while installing a new culture its not going to begin with over paid veterans, being a cancer to our young talent.

Teams don't keep or release players to appease the fans ; but there's a good chance that not getting rid of Adams , could result in many questioning the judgement or competency of JS & Macdonald . Release him plz .
