Hawkblogger : Sick of the whining about 2-pt play

Well, to be fair, her point was that this discussion was here and not on Rams boards...and she responded here. I believe that most Rams fans know that a lot of plays were made and not made following that 2-pointer. I think the narrative is really coming out of the lazy national media. Keep in...

    Can Cross handle Myles Garrett?

No, I generally agree. At best, he'd be a rotational "nice to have" piece, not the DPOY that's attached to his name. And he's said in his texts on the issue that he'll have to see if he "can find that fire". I.e., it's one thing to workout in the gym. It's an entirely different thing to get...

    Incentive to repeat

Nothing is guaranteed across any team, but they have the philosophy, scheme, OL, and RBs to generate a strong running game. I think the bigger question in the NFC West is just how much Stafford will regress this year. It's hard to put together back-to-back MVP years in the first place, then you...

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

That's how I feel about it as well. They definitely got better, and the goal of the offseason is to make your roster better. So, mission accomplished there. But one bad ankle sprain to the wrong player, and there goes your all-in plan. You need a lot of breaks to go your way to navigate that...

The running game will continue to be a team strength.

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

Yes, they're clearly the favorite this year (and now need to run the 20-game gauntlet to do it for real). But 4/5 of their starting OL, Turner, Young, and Nacua are UFAs next year. Linemen get paid a premium in free agency, particularly those coming off SB wins. Hell, Boye Mafe got $20M per...

What will it take to get Verse?

I've thought about that because it helps to really quantify the cost of this move. I'm thinking it'd have to be two firsts as well given his age, position, and production. It might even be something like two firsts and a fourth, really.

What will it take to get Verse?

Verse is completely off the table except for an extreme draft capital overpay. He's reportedly the player the Browns demanded to make the deal happen. The Rams wanted to keep Verse and give up more picks.

The strange part is that the Seahawks lost 5 percentage points and the 49ers only 2 percentage points after this development. Maybe stranger is that the 49ers are within 7 percentage points of Seattle.

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

It's not easy to measure the overall net effect for that reason. If the trade involved a different position, they could make the argument that "we're going double down on DL at the expense of our WR room, our OL, etc. That's how we're going to win." In this case, they're strengthening their DL...

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

Yes, these two things are just not the same. The Seahawks have a young, loaded roster and 12 picks in next year's loaded draft. They're set up to be contenders for years. The 49ers probably start their rebuild next year (and is that something Shanahan wants to stick around for?)

    Can Cross handle Myles Garrett?

They have to get their SB this year because their roster is a mess next year.

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

4/5 of their starting OL are UFA next year.

Damn....Rams just traded for Miles Garrett

It's honestly fine. We just won the SB, and it's in the books for good. This is them lamenting that they missed a golden opportunity so they're going all in for one this year (and they still have to run the gauntlet and do it). Take a look at Spotrac...their roster construction for 2027 doesn't...

The 49ers are the latest case study in needing to win the SB when its your time. They completely blew their window to get one or more SBs. Now their "core" is very old and depending on what you think of Purdy, they don't have any young stars. Their teardown starts next year.
