Don't shoot the messenger etc.

If there was any truth to it, would you take him for that?

Likely a rental.

Obviously would like to have saw the rumor from more than one source but Viens has had Brady Henderson and others on his show.

At that price, it's the easiest "Yes" of the off-season.

The Seahawks almost have to many draft picks next year, they will combine some and move up. They simply will not have the holes that they did this year.

What is the hope of a 3rd day guy? He makes the team, gets rotated in and he has an impact...KT is guaranteed to do that!

With this off season arms race looking like we brought a sling shot and the Rams brought a tank, a little something wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, if he signs a reasonable enough extension as he looks better on paper than pretty much every pass-rusher in this last draft: 6’4, 256, 1.56 10 yard split, 34 inch arms, 27 x 225, 9’11” broad jump. 4 years of experience but still only 25 years old for much of the season. So just about to enter his prime. Prototypically, he’s checks every box and perhaps he just needs a change of scenery surrounded by winning culture and a kick in the butt with quality coaching to help him really get going.

With Hall being part of the long-term future, KT would actually complement him very well as KT has more twitch and flexibility to bend the corner. In a lot of ways, he feels somewhat similar to Mafe but, imo, has much more potential ceiling to become elite if you can get his head and heart fully into it (to a team first attitude instead of a me first mentality) , if he can stay healthy and if he can iron out then refine some technical things that will make him more consistent both as a tackler and specifically in his pass-rush opportunities.

But on the bright side I believe he’s more than capable as a run defender and in pursuit and can hold the edge. So, definitely a strong part of his game that meshes well with Macdonald’s Defensive ethos that you can build off while you hope to fix and improve the other things that are lacking.

Did you see the morons on twitter who accused Dan of engagement farming and that what he said was made-up?

Good lord...

Dan is credential'ed and has his sources (that I imagine are close to the team), and thus wouldn't be pulling this out of his ass if there wasn't any sliver of truth to it.

We'll see if there is any movement down the road...

He says he has a source and said he doesn't know the source or his name, but gets messages from him and believes him.
I mean it seems dubious and he lives in West Virginia

I frankly doubt there is much likelihood that the team will trade for Thibodeau. To me I suppose it might be possible but it might just depend on the player for such a deal to happen. He’d want to be here and he’d need to agree to a less than marketplace deal to prove himself if he wanted to stay after doing so or not. I just don’t see that happening from the player, but I could be wrong.

Do suspect the Giants have no future plans for Thibodeau and would take picks for him. He likely may have some future value but just as a later round comp pick or slightly better perhaps. Sadly the player while potentially quite talented has underperformed in NY and cannot still be said to be a first level Edge rusher at present. Still he’s a player that could be worth taking a chance on to reclaim due to his potential. I have little doubt the team has talked to NYG about him and I guess we’ll see, both sides are holding their cards close.

It would seem to be the case that almost every single “potentially” available edge rusher has been mooted in trade to the Seahawks. Some for sure would have been damn pricey but would have given the team a first level Edge rusher, an area of real need. None of these “potentially available” trades have had legs as far as we know. Still it’s a curiously interesting trade, and he’s still young, might just be available, and could be a worthy project. Is he really a fit, actually available, or is this just more Edge rusher speculation?

Seeing how Clowney looked under MM and how the defence played last year gives me optimism that we could get the best out of defensive players but a lot is on the player.

Just for funsies and I’m probably totally wrong but did some sleuthing because Viens and his “source” seems to be a popular topic amongst all the fan circles. Well… AI did all the work, I just asked a bunch of questions to pinpoint a possible connection to Viens and an inside source and got this:

He has a 1-year $14.751M fully-guaranteed contract. I have no opinion as to his current or future market value. Hypothetically, if he were to leave as a UFA in 2027 for a similar contract he would likely count as a 5th round compensatory pick.

I'd rather we not trade for him, even if only for a 4th round pick. I don't think he will be much of an upgrade over our younger DEs like Gaines, O'Toole, or Hubbard.

If we make a trade I think it should be for a game changing type of player or one who is elite at his position.

This confirms my sense of his value to the Giants, a trade may yield them slightly more than a 5th rd comp pick. The Hawks might then acquire a player who could be better than some of the depth they presently have who if he doesn’t improve or becomes too expensive could become a comp pick for 2028 for the Hawks.

I don’t presently see KT as an elite edge rusher even though he had 11.5 sacks two seasons ago. He does have some proven ability but is mostly still a player with potential ability, and elite traits. Maybe he needs a fresh start to unlock the potential. He’s only 25, sadly he has recent injury history. Can he stay healthy enough to unlock his true potential?

Am finding myself presently obsessing about this player who just might be a solid fit here.

Only problem with your statement is that it's incorrect. He knows his source but won't name him by name for obvious reasons. He just moved to WV to be closer to his fiance. He has had Seahawks credentials but doesn't have them anymore because he moved out of the Seattle area.

I have a different POV...I think KT needs a new scene and MacDaddy's coaches have shown they can turn decent players into highly productive ones.

Not sure I'd part with a 3rd flat out...maybe make it a conditional 4th to 3rd, depending on some reasonable metric.

And we need to restock that position with only Hall signed beyond next year and the others in the "aging" category. JS always looking at good fit options.

There's a decent possibility one of the PS players makes the 53 next year as well.

With the potential and promise of a healthy Riley Mills wreaking havoc and possibly Jared Ivey, the depth is better than last year when all they lost was Boye Mafe and already added Dante Fowler Jr. What they need, not really a need, is another Tyrice Knight clone for depth on the outside but I know Macdonald will have it all sorted in training camp

I agree with @LeveeBreak that we need to restock the position. We've done well to keep a 2-deep rotation at OLB, but DLaw, Nwosu, and Fowler are all over 30 in 2027 and DLaw will be the only one under contract.

DLaw may also retire. He'll be 35, so there is the likelihood his play may drop off or he could get injured even if he stays, meaning we could only have 1 of 4 starters left after the 2026 season.

KT (and Hall) are 25, so it would be the right time to acquire him. The only issue I have with getting him now is where would he play? I guess Fowler's contract is only $5M, but still, that's $5M in addition to KT's $14.5M and only one will see the field.

If one of our 4 starting OLB get injured before the trade deadline, then that day 2 pick may be necessary to keep our Super Bowl hopes alive. You would want some indication you could resign KT of course, and Hall and KT would be a good core to have inked until 2030.

It's something to watch as the season goes on.
