Wait, we have QB depth? If either of the back ups are in, are you honestly saying "I feel comfortable with this". No, stop. It's Darnold or bust.

The biggest hole is at RG until the rookie can prove otherwise.

Mills by himself will improve the entire D line. Opposing teams will not game plan against a pass rusher from the edges, they will be focused on stopping the rush from the interior.

The Murphy/Mills combo next year will be the reason Mac gets Coach of the year. He drafted both of them early for a reason.
Mills was a fifth round pick.

Yeah, that was a great one play, but I think people need to temper their expectations for him a bit. He's still going to essentially be a rookie. Thinking offensive coordinators are going to be up at night losing sleep over how to account for him feels premature.

Holes? There are going to be plenty of holes made by the oline for the RBs to run through. The defense will provide no holes for opposing offenses.

He was a 5th round pick because he tore his ACL in December of 2024 and practically every team considered him a red shirt for his first year because of that. I have strong doubts that if he DIDN'T have that injury, they wouldn't of had a shot at him unless they sacrificed one of the earlier players they drafted. The difference he made on the ND defense was night and day without him on the team, and IT SHOWED. The first sack of his NFL career came in the SB and it was way too convincing to assume he got lucky. Put a little bit more respect on his name, any good OC is game-planning for wreckers on the defense, and Mills is a wrecker for sure. He even got Byron Murphy's stamp of approval in a recent interview...oh wait, you think Murphy is a bust so that won't matter to you.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see, but there's a reason I made him my adopt-a-rookie and it wasn't because of sheer hope and optimism.

Mills is good. I'm just cautioning into assuming he'll be indistinguishable from peak Aaron Donald this season. If he proves to be a valuable part of the rotation and keeps making strides, I'll be happy. I think fans are setting up for a potential normal level of growth from a young talented player who has barely seen the field in two years to end up feeling like a disappointment.

Here are the issues for the Seahawks, as I see them:

1. Right guard. Anthony Bradford was better toward the end of the year, but he is still a problem in pass protection. If Beau Stephens works out, that would be great, but he was a 5th round pick for a reason--he's no shoo-in to be an NFL starter.

2. Defensive line. We lost Mafe, and Leonard Williams, DeMarcus Lawrence and Jarran Reed are a year older. Lawrence is 34, Reed is 33 and Williams is 31. The player we got to replace Mafe, Dante Fowler will be 32 when the season starts. It will be great if Riley Mills plays a significant number of snaps this year and can be the player we think he will be. But I wish we had some more depth and some more youth there.

3. Safety. Losing Coby Bryant was significant. Ty Okada filled in well for Julian Love last year when Love was hurt, but he's not on the same level. I have hope that Bud Clark will be able to step in and take Bryant's place but he's still unproven.

4. Cornerback. Until we see who emerges as Woolen's replacement, this is still a big question mark. Sure, Woolen wasn't great, but he was still good enough that the coaches thought he was the best option last year.

5. Running back. I'm hoping that Jadarian Price, Emanuel Wilson and Kenny McIntosh will adequately replace Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, but that's going with a wing and prayer. We just don't know what we have at that position yet.

At this point there are some small doubts but no holes. The Seahawks have at least 16 out of 22 starters who as a group are good enough for a team to win a Super Bowl with. The other 6 starters figure to be solid enough. There are probably 12-18 fan bases who feel that way. However, the Seahawks are the team that have already done it, and having already done adds to the confidence. The Seahawks, (on paper), look better than most of those other 11-17 teams.

Winning in February requires a lot of things to go your way throughout the season. Good luck. Every team will need it.
