I hope that Jody while looking for a good offer also looks at the integrity of the buyer, Billionaires have egos to be sure and many like to show it, however people like the Allens are what we would like to continue to have I think or maybe Cuban, he is smart enough to understand the players are the commodity, the Franchise is where they come to work. He was smart enough to manage the Mavericks to winning without being a bothersome owner and just made sure the team had all the resources needed and took care of the fans also.
Has to be sold to highest bidder, from what I’ve read. No hometown discount.

I agree. Paul Allen has a directive that the team is to be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of location or ties. In other words , they'll have NO say in who winds up with the team.

Kind of a shitty thing to do.
What? Where in the world did you hear that? And how in the world do you know that? She's the one selling the team, how does she have NO say in who buys the team?

You couldn't have asked for a better time to throw a For Sale sign in the window than now if you're the seller.

I'm not worried about any new owner(s) moving the team at all. For one, it would be a spectacularly idiotic decision to try and relocate the team. Second, what city in this country is a realistic destination? Third, the League's reasoning back in 1996 against Ken Behring moving the team was that there would be no NFL representation in a significant region of the U.S. and is still relevant today. If there was no franchise in Seattle, a legit 5 states would have no nearby team. And, last but not least, the optics of green lighting a Seahawks move by any new ownership from the PNW with the rabid fan support we've had for a half century now would be a really terrible look for the league office.

My only concern is we get a dunce who meddles too much and drives away quality management and coaching like the Browns. But, there again, the Allen's leadership/management over the last 30 years have provided an excellent blueprint on how to successfully manage this franchise. It would take a real egomaniac/moron to blow up a proven model with this kind of money involved just to try and reinvent the wheel.

Just my .02
It has been my observation that there is sufficient overlap between egomaniac/morons and people will billions of dollars to make this a real possibility. People will do ridiculous things just to throw their weight around.

To those trying to do so, Please don't bring your politics in to the thread.

The NFL Owners have to ratify any sale, and I doubt they want Cuban in the club. And I don't think Cuban can afford the team.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care who buys it, as long as they follow my 2 directives, the Team stays in Seattle, and the new owner does not pull a Jerry Jones and insert his/her ego in to the operation of the team.

The owners really liked Paul Allen, and I think they'll support his sister Jody's wishes because they reflect Paul's.

And people are missing the most important point here, our beloved Paul Allen directed that his sports teams be sold, and that the money goes to Philanthropy. I only have one directive there, someone needs to keep a close eye on that money so that it doesn't get scammed. Tod Lieweke, where are you?

Seahawks officially being put up for sale by Paul Allen estate

Reaction: What the Seahawks need in their next owner
...
Allen purchased the Seahawks in 1997 from Ken Behring for $194 million.

A sale of the Seahawks has been expected since Allen’s death in 2018. He made it a directive for his trust to sell both the Seahawks and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, with proceeds to be donated to philanthropic efforts. Allen’s estate entered a formal agreement to sell the Trail Blazers last September to a group led by Tom Dundon, who owns the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. The Trail Blazers reportedly sold for $4.25 billion.

According to ESPN, the Seahawks are now past a date where a sale of the team would have resulted in sharing 10% of the proceeds with the state of Washington. :ROFLMAO: The team’s home stadium, now known as Lumen Field, opened in 2002 at a cost of $430 million and was built with $300 million of public funding.

Investment bank Allen & Company and law firm Latham & Watkins will lead the sales process of the Seahawks. The process is estimated to continue through the offseason. A final purchase agreement must then be ratified by NFL owners.

The franchise has been operating under chair Jody Allen, who took control as the trustee of the Paul G. Allen Trust following her brother’s death.

Sports business reporter John Canzano reported in 2022 that an insider at Vulcan Inc., a private company founded by the Allen siblings, said Jody Allen may have interest in retaining a stake in the Seahawks’ ownership and may be saving the sale of the team for last in hopes of that.

The Seahawks have become one of the NFL’s most successful franchises since Paul Allen bought the team.

After years of mostly toiling in mediocrity, the Seahawks have won two Super Bowls, four NFC championships and 11 division titles since Paul Allen purchased the team. Seventeen of the franchise’s 21 playoff appearances have come during that span. Five of the playoff appearances, two division titles and a Super Bowl have come under Jody Allen.

The Washington Commanders are the most recent NFL franchise to be sold. The team was purchased by for $6.05 billion by a group led by Josh Harris, the co-owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

ESPN reported groups led by Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos and Tilman Fertitta, the owner of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, were among others who bid on the Commanders. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also reportedly had interest in buying the team but did not make a bid.

Bezos would be an absolute nightmare. Yes he has money but that does not mean he will spend it on the team. He runs everything he takes hold of into the ground for profit and will not give one single **** about winning games.

The only thing worse would be the Trump family. Hopefully the other owners would block that.

Not advocating for or against it. Just stating the facts that the claim was false. Also, be careful with the political references. Im sure there's a mod running around here somewhere with a hammer.
Calling him a disgusting human being isn't political. He was a disgusting person well before he was ever involved in politics. Its just an objective fact that hes a morally bankrupt terrible human and always has been. Let's hope he doesn't buy the team

I’d be very surprised if Bezos bought the team.

He left…not only for better weather but, WA’s taxes. I doubt he jumps into the fray.

Personally, I don’t care where the team is located. I'm in Ohio 😂🤣.

But, I’d hate it for you folks and the majority of the Hawks fan base. I consider the 12s as the best fanbase there is.

I never followed the SuperSonics. I’d watch Kemp, Detlef, etc…Payton ofc. But, that team never ‘felt’ the same.

I thought everyone here claimed it was fake news for clicks before.
I thought it was more commenting in the timing of it coming out. But I could be remembering wrong.

Thank you. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. What about that guy makes anyone think he's going to personally foot the bill for anything? I can't recall him ever expressing any interest in football. This would just be another money-making thing for him.
