He is the list from OTC

There are quite a few compared to other years, which normally happens with guys who have bounced around the league a bit, or were originally 2023 undrafted free agents (Bobo/Stoll).

The important thing to consider is the minimum tender for any of these guys will be in the $3.6M range (final figure comes when league cap is finalized). So, while we may hope to bring back a few of these guys, the only guy that's make 100% sense to tender is Drake Thomas. Guys like Russell, Pili and others the team may try to re-sign at more manageable cap hits, or they just wind up being non-tendered and free to sign anywhere. I've seen some analysis from media talking heads that suggests, for example, Bobo will be back because he's under team control.... which is kind of true, but only at a price the team may not be willing to allocate.

Drake -n- Jake are both “must keep” IMO

I get it, and just posted about Jake.

I “get it” in that they may be able to fill his spot with more production but I personally love what he brings to the table.
I certainly wouldn’t condone keeping him at an unrealistic price tag, but ….

The “cult following” so to speak is fun.

Yeah, but most of the cult forms in August and dissipates by September.

Why does the tender jump so much for these undrafted guys?

Stoll seems like a pretty easy tender to me. Anyone we sign to replace him is going to cost at least that, unless we decide to trust another udfa, which I'd rather not.

Them the rules.

Clint Gresham was in the same situation a while back and he signed to a 3 year minimum deal with a modest bonus.

Drake is the only no brainer IMO. I like Bobo a lot and think he should be re-signed...but not at ~$4m/year.

Stoll should be a priority to keep, but not at that salary. I think most of these guys will get a deal with the hawks...but could see Pili and White go to other teams in need at those positions...which would suck!

Russell is a special teams guy mostly, we seen how important they are, reasonable contract for him as he is also the back up FB.

Yep...Russell is definitely a keeper and as a 4th string TE, 2nd string FB, and special teamer...probably not going to garner a bunch of $$ from other teams. He made a little over $1m last year on a 1 year deal. The hawks know his value and will prob reward him with a bump, maybe 2 yr deal.

Do you have an opinion of Stoll? Neither do I…that’s exactly what you want on your starting LS and we’ve had misery when they suck.

Lowest contract for a starter. Unless someone overpays, re-sign this kid.

Deals and no-deal at this time of the year overtaxes my wage scale. All I know is now that we are not playing weekly games the horses are bitching that I'm suddenly not doing such a good a job cleaning their stalls.
Step up man, Them horsies need loving too. In the right way that is. Oh crap am I diggin my hole and putting me in it.

Tree top farms was owned by Green Bay Packer Jerry Kramer until his divorce. It is now owned by another human being. One of the horses bred and trained there went back to California and got show in one of the main races there. That horse ranch is about 10 miles from me. I used to go to Les Bois track a bit and bet the ponies. It was fun.

Just a reminder that RFA tags and PPE salary increases take on the characteristics of the current contract. Thus if the player had a bonus clause for reaching a certain target then that will apply to the RFA tag or PPE contracts. Almost none of the affected players will have had guarantees in their 3rd year and that lack of a guarantee will continue to apply. Teams with large amounts of cap space have been known to RFA tag players that they probably won't keep. They can then renegotiate the players downward or release them just before the start of the regular season. Tagging ERFA players is normally a no-brainer.

That is an interesting tidbit I was not aware of...thanks for sharing. It certainly changes the dynamic when you don't have to guarentee the tender (which I assumed). If I'm understanding correctly...they can tender, protecting them from being poached w/o an ability to match and/or be compensated, and begin negotiating for a lower contract.

I did a bit more research on it and found this summary of nuggets:

1771431240430

It will be interesting to see what The Drake is tendered at. As a starting ILB, I assume a 2nd rd.
