I kinda feel for, but I totally get it..

Tyler Lockett. Dude has shown this city and team constant love. Comes here after we finish back to back a superbowls… then the year after he’s gone, SuperBowl.

I get it, but still kind of a bummer for a dude who’s been nothing but class for this team and city.

So much so. Ironically, he might be THEE one player that is likely to have the best outlook about it all and/or be the least "bummed out" of like, maybe 3 or 4 former players that I feel this way about.
You know what's crazy, also? Shaq Griffin is about to become a Super Bowl champion.

PS: I struggled wording this concisely like a mfer, but yall understand what I mean, right?

Probably not the most popular take, but at least it's consistent with my previous posts from a couple years ago.

With respect, I grew very tired of the DK/TL dance of non YAC. In my opinion, they changed the always compete mantra into hit the deck, made business decisions and tell the front office to go F themselves if they didn't like it. And further, their personal news and drama overshadowed much of their actual success on the team, again, IMO.

Further, I believe that the attitude affected the rest of the team in a negative way.

On the other hand, ADB raising the 12th man flag recently. Fing awesome. He's the mofo that I miss.

JSN - smashed to the ground and pops back up again like the energizer bunny? That's some grit.

Just saying. Disagree and Flame me if you wish.

EDIT: and to be clear - I like where we are NOW. Not the 'good enough to not be last' attitude that infected us for the last years of the PC era.

I won't flame you, but do you not understand why a tiny (by NFL standards) WR hits the ground before getting smashed? I for one would rather have TL go down and live to catch more balls, rather than try to gain another yard and have the ball taken and his body broken. That is not being selfish. It is being smart.

Glad that Quandre diggs might have a chance to get a ring.
I don't disagree. I think fans cut him a hard deal for how things went toward the end, but I don't see how you can look back with context and not see that the whole system was F'd.

He laid it on the line for us for a few years when leadership and direction were already in doubt. He was one of the only pieces that worked on those defenses. Schneider knows that. He saw behind the curtain. He wouldn't allow a quiter on this roster.

Luke Willson talked pretty candidly about how pathetic the culture had become when he considered coming back to play for us.

I can't entirely fault a player who his entire career has shown to be an outstanding player and leader for giving up on coaches that (as it has been shown) wete giving the team a failed script, leading them to losses, and setting them up to fail.

Pete was fired. Clint was fired. The defense was rebuilt. And the guys who did all of that thought it would be good to bring Diggs back.

If his character was that of a quiter, guys like Schneider and MacDonald wouldn't bother sniffing him. Especially given how unemotional they have been in shipping guys like Baker and Dodson out - guys who didn't work and put quitting on plays on tape.

Happy for him if he gets a ring after toiling on Detroit teams that never had a chance and ours when we had entirely lost our way.

Lockett was a class act here and had some really great moments for this team. Unfortunately he came in after the 49 debacle and when Russ was already starting to decline in his play and attitude and all the other drama and poor decisions under Pete. Never a chance he was going to win here in his career. When the time came it was time to move on as he was done. Timing sucked for him. Great player for this team imo.

Gotta ask…in the last paragraph is that a Freudian slip or a real offer? 😂

What personal news and drama from Tyler though? DK I get, but TL was like the most drama free dude ever, so dont say "their drama"

Great post.

The hate Diggs gets around here is ridiculous. He was a huge steal for a fifth-round pick (which gets forgotten among the Schneider fleecings), and was an excellent player and defensive leader for a number of successful seasons. Yet, despite no character issues, fans completely turned on him, citing like two isolated plays from his last season, when he was clearly past his prime anyway and half the defense looked like they were just there to collect a paycheck. Even then, I thought he played fine down the stretch.

I guess that's how things are now. They like you until you're no longer useful, and then they treat you like you were never anything. That's a big part of the reason I never criticize players for getting everything they can while they can, regardless of whether that involves holding out, requesting a trade, or whatever. Nobody should ever give a team a "hometown discount". Some day, it comes to an end for each one, and most people are going to hold onto whatever their last impression of you was. Might as well set yourself up the best you can.
