Shout Out To The Offensive Line

A pretty amazing stat for our OL this season. Like many of us, I have bagged on our OL woes for years. It's incredibly rewarding to see this oft-scorned unit turn it around. Kudos!

The Seahawks sliced their sack total in half this season, giving up just 27 sacks in 17 games. It’s their third-lowest sack total in franchise history and their lowest since their 2005 NFC-title winning team, which surrendered just 27 sacks in 16 games. Prior to this year, Seattle had given up 40-plus sacks in 11 of the previous 12 seasons.

A year after surrendering 54 sacks, the Seattle Seahawks sliced that total in half this season and allowed their third-fewest sacks in franchise history.

Also, PFF's final offensive line rankings puts the Seahawks at number 15, after being number 32 last year. Their rise came mainly in the second half, having spent the first half of the year in the bottom half of the league.

I saw a stat where the defense turned in its lowest snap count since 1991 during the final regular season game.

Isn't complementary football amazing.

Think about this. The last time we had given up only 27 sacks in a season is when we had Hall of Famers Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson at the peak of their careers.

The starters from left tackle to center have eye catching range and improving foot and hand placement.

And to think this is just their 1st year of working together.

All three are on board for the next two years --- minimum.

The best is yet together.

Last year Grubb sabotaged the Oline with his play calling. Kubiak is the complete opposite

I don’t think that the 1st round selection of Zabel should go unnoticed either. The franchise’s commitment to fixing the O line was cemented with that pick. It sent a message to all 31 other teams that we’ve learned from our mistakes and are committed to successful football.

It's fantastic and timely that we're running the ball better. Takes pressure off our passing game, set's up play-action, helps with TOP and keeping our D fresh, makes it so we're less dependent upon Sam having to play hero ball. It's really been our somewhat missing ingredient, but less and less so of late. It really shows how they've made it a point of emphasis for improvement.

Jokes aside, I'll take it. I want the line to be top 10 by end of next season.

Absolutely MASSIVE improvement from the dysfunctional mess they were last season.

And we're in pretty good shape for the same group next year. Cross and Lucas signed extensions. Zabel on his rookie contract. Bradford improving, next year is his 4th year. Olu on rookie deal. Haynes in 3d year next year. Cabeldue just starting.

With our current draft capital in '26, I doubt we'd go OL in the 1st round. JS will probably do some dealing to pick up more later round picks. Seems unlikely he'd settle for 4 picks.

With young guys behind them getting better as well.

Btw as much as I’ve gotten in Bradford I have seen improvement from him and this was his third year in the league.

Going into the season, the OL was the main question and many thought Sam wouldn't be able to succeed here based on how bad it was last season when Geno was here.

Drafting Gray Zabel and hiring Benton as OL coach were two master-strokes (uh huh huh huh..he said 'strokes'....) by JS.

Now the OL, while not as dominant as the better OL in the league, is GOOD ENOUGH to get this team to where they want to go.
