Was watching red zone just now and they were showing a play from the Saints/Falcons game and the announcers were joking about MVP votes and Schlereth said he wouldn’t vote QB and Myers joked that he can’t vote for a lineman. Sclereth said he could and then added how good Zabel was and asked if Myers watched the game last night.

Zabel was one of our best picks in many years. We finally addressed the OL and took BPA on who was unanimously the best OG in the draft. He is a difference maker and a staple for us for years.

And he’s still a kid that’s learning how to be a pro and play the pro game.

He’s got two more seasons before I cast any judgement

I won’t make a career judgement but I think it’s fair to judge his rookie season once we get through the post season. He’s definitely got room to grow but I don’t think we could have asked more from the big guy.

Absolutely

I just refuse to judge based on a few whiffs that are pretty clearly due to inexperience as some round these parts have.

No doubt. As frustrating as they are to see live during the game his overall body of work has been excellent especially for a rookie.

Zabel was our highest graded player last night.

He’s probably a top twenty, maybe even top 15 guard, if you don’t cut him any slack for being a rookie.

Imagine we are able to get a player like him for the right side of the line? I think Sundell isn’t that bad. And I think getting a RG who is in the top 10 of guards would be unreal.

Sundell isn't bad by any stretch, but they could definitely improve the position. Getting a top tier RG would help Sundell out for sure, and is definitely the bigger priority on the line.
