Brevity and/or subtlety doesn't work on this forum.

If this incident had happened in the Falcons @ Cardinals game the NFL might not have taken any action at all since the teams likely won't meet again before 2027. The incident happened in a Prime Time game between the #1 and #2 teams in the NFL by points differential. More importantly these 2 teams may likely meet again soon in a high profile playoff game. The NFL are not going to risk that game deteriorating into a 100 player brawl because they ignored a really minor incident in this game. If the incident had been committed by a high profile player they might have issued a fine and a stern warning. Sadly it was a lesser-known rotational player and the NFL's 'Protect the Shield' policy means they will massively over-react, because they can. I don't like it, or agree with it, but I understand it.

As for 'stuff happens', during the game the referee whacked 1 of the Seahawks players in the face-mask whilst he was announcing a penalty. It was completely accidental. It has happened with other referees to other players in other games. Similar things have happened to players who have inadvertently clipped officials who had walked up behind them. Those players were subject to a 15-yard penalty, automatic ejection, and a fine equivalent to an illegal head-shot. Again, sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and stuff happens.

As to the incident itself, the rule is there to protect players. It doesn't have to be a deliberate act or for there to be any intention. The NFL doesn't want the other team to have their own 'unintentional' retaliation or for there to be any escalation, so any appeal based on a lack of intent was doomed to fail.

Everyone here is giving Hall the benefit of the doubt. We've seen 1 long-shot of the incident in YouTube or X definition with just enough sound to give the tv audience a game experience. The NFL is seeing the incident from multiple tv angles in ultra HD with sound direction enhancement that the C.I.A would be proud of, all coming out of their kazoo. I don't know what happened or what was said on previous plays, but the NFL does. They'll know every expletive, slur, and threat that was uttered. If someone said something stupid and then that stupid thing accidentally happened later on - well don't expect them not to know and take it into account. Again, i'm giving Hall the benefit of the doubt and I think he's unlucky, but i'll never know for sure because they'll never release stuff that makes the game look bad. Moving on.

Its not surprising honestly. I was 50/50 on whether he got it overturned or not because the league does not do the Seahawks any favors and anything negative seems to spark a witch hunt. Like if DK was in a Seahawks uniform last Sunday, id bet he would of got max penalty.

As for Hall, it was his body language to me that was going to be crucial, he was more than less controlled and nonchalant, had he looked more panicked in trying to avoid the situation Id say he 100% would have won his appeal.

However, I dont think he meant to step on Dotson as in malicious intent, he had three choices. Get his ankle rolled over on and risk injury, panic and try to jump off his plant foot that might have got caught had he tried to build up the force to make a jump, and if his foot did get caught it would be potentially risking injury to both himself and Dotson because he would have landed on Dotson with much more force.

I think ultimately Hall made the right decision for himself and Dotson and the league is kind of stupid or blind if they think otherwise. He avoided a serious injury to himself and avoided full force of landing on Dotson’s ankle with his weight as he ultimately had his front foot on the ground and the heel on the ankle.

Yep!

Clearly shows Hall trying to avoid getting rolled up on and not realizing he stepped on the Rams player until after it happened. Also clearly shows Dotson was injured by his own player. This should be an easy appeal.
I just did a quick expirement. I showed my mom this video and asked her what she sees. Now, mind you, my mom is not a football/sports fan (other than boxing/Williams sisters/Sha'Carri Richardson) and didn't even realize she was watching a Seahawk player.

Me: "Watch the end of this play and tell me what you see."

Mom: "Why did they circle him? Ooop! Oh! Oh Jesus! They fightin'? What's going on!?"

Me: Loops it 2 more times

Mom:" Looks like the big guy in gray was trying to step over the one on the flo' (floor 🤣)...and trying to make sure HIS big ass doesn't fall, himself. What am I supposed to be seeing?"
Me: "Exactly" (proceeds to explain the situation)
Mom: "Are you serious!? 😮 Boyyyy, this.. [redacted for political reasons] shit is getting outta hand."

When you said you did a quick experiment with your mom I expected the worst. Thought you were going to say you injured her and put her on the ground and tried to step over or on her in the same fashion as Derrick Hall. Grateful it got better and happy I can't be considered an accessory after the fact just for reading it.

But she kind of went through all of the emotions most people did. Looks bad at first but after you rewatch a couple times it appears Derrick Hall is trying to avoid stepping on Dotson in any way.

You're better at redacting than the FBI apparently.

Has coach been asked about this mess by the media this week? He's super tactful and respectful, so I'm sure he's toeing the line about it, but he has to be pissed.

I hope Big Cat and the rest of the line swallow Bryce Youngs little bitty is whole in solidarity on Sunday. ⏸️

MacDonald seems to be the type of person who just prefers to move on instead of dwelling on things.

I'm sure deep down he's annoyed by this whole situation but he can't do anything about it so it's next-man-up.

We and Mike can be pissed at the decision, but making much more out of it would be a distraction, see Mcvag and his rants, besides he as we also know it won't change a thing, the Gid Complex the league has taken will only get popped when Grudens case exposes them and they lose their Anti-Trust status.
