Not concerned. The Hawks will use the Vikings game as a blueprint for what not to do when facing blitzes. Besides, Vikings are way more dynamic with their schemes and Flores is mad at the world and that gets illustrated through his defense.
I SO hope this is true. Also hoping it's not a pipedream that the offense will figure out and dial up quick hitters and screens.

It’s good to have these defenses back to back, and will be nice practice against a blitzing level that we won’t encounter again this season.

We’ve already succeeded against two of the top five defenses in QB pressures, with the Seahawks being 1st, and now can add success against the top two blitzing teams. It really is good practice for the playoffs.

I think Schlereth on 710 was talking about Minny’s unique defense/blitz packages. He also made the point that Flores defense is 1 of 1 because nobody else has his experience running. Who knows, maybe he’ll be the Fangio of the 2030s…

Point being we won’t see another defense like Minny’s and other teams won’t be able to copy what they did. That said, Atl is more conventional so if they can similarly disrupt us we may see blitz-heavy schemes the rest of the season.

Alt’s run defense has been horrid, so I don’t expect they will be a serious threat. It will however be a good warm up for what is likely to come.

Atlanta loses because their coach is a moron. Seriously.

I started watching them because of Penix. Maybe saw 4 games? But it was clear in the first game, their coach is a bottom third if not bottom fifth coach. I think I posted here during their first game about how bad I felt for Atlanta fans because their were hamstrung by their coach. Their roster is nowhere near as bad as their coaching makes it look. I almost kinda like their defense (roster not how they play). But that coach is not even a Peter Principle hire. It is a mystery how he keeps his job.

They have a great RB. Exceptional WR. But watch their playcalling. My favorite was watching them run the play in with 3 seconds on the play clock for the rookie QB to snap the ball almost immediately. The poor kid didn't even have time to see the defense adjust to the play set so they could ID if it was man or zone. It was like stabbing your QB in the leg before each snap.

But it wasn't the only stupid thing their HC seemed to tolerate. There were so many.

Darnold will probably struggle with the blitz, because he tends to. But the Falcons HC will do something stupid and lose the game despite whatever advantages they end up getting from that being one of Darnold's big weaknesses. It might be close because of that issue, but nobody is worried that the Atlanta HC will have a flash of professional competence anytime soon. The poor Falcons fans actually deserve better.
Penix is going to be up and down until they figure things out or he gets a chance with another team and then he's going to explode. The dude is uber talented.

Macdonald said the same thing. People aren't going to copy Minn blueprint because what they do is so unique and its not feasible to completely overhaul your approach in a week.

Atlanta gave up like 300 yards rushing to the colts a few weeks ago. they can't stop the run. run it all day.
But then .net will be complaining that Darnold had another bad game because he had less than 200 yards passing. The sky will be falling, even if Walker and Charbonnet combine for 300 yards. :p

And that is the thing.

Darnold does pretty well against CONVENTIONAL defenses that Blitz.

He's talented. And a winner. But he got a terrible HC. And unfortunately he is being retrainied/taught how to be a loser. He'll likely pick up bad habits due to his coach which it might be tough to unlearn. I was hopeful but it will be tough for Penix. He will never be successful w that staff though.

One more reason to.feel.bad to Falcon fans. Little to no hope.

I think I’m more more worried about Colts game than this…. With Lambs on the horizon after Colts.

Make this a business trip and home healthy.
But we should beat the Falcons comfortably. So a loss there would be more annoying. I can handle losing to Jonathan Taylor, especially since we should have drafted him.

Like ^ he said losing a game to the AFC would be way better than any NFC loss.

We should take care of the Falcons. Like GMFB's Kyle Brandt said this morning about the game, to paraphrase;

"This is not the game for the national media to start raving about the Seahawks. They should handle the Falcons. The true measuring stick will be what they can do once in the playoffs."

Kyle Brandt was on our jocks all year. We lose to the Rams and he completely flips. Wanted to like him, but nah. Frontrunner.
If the Rams beat a team, no matter who it is, he acts like they just won the Super Bowl. It never gets old

While I certainly know we have one of the best defenses in the NFL, I’m pretty sure them starting an undrafted rookie QB helped play a role in that final score.
All I'm sayin'.

This is good, we need more practice at picking up the blitz
This^^^^ and Darnold getting more reps against it. Honestly, having several games after the lambs to work out blitz challenges could be a blessing...assuming the OLine and SD find an answer.
