I posted this vid moreso because of what Cris Canty said regarding people needing to move the f*ck on and stop obsessing about Sam's final two games last season and start acknowledging that he's for real.

And he still completed 63% of his passes for 245 yards and a touchdown in that game. It wasn't a 4-INT meltdown like Herbert in his first-round playoff exit against the Texans. Nobody asks if Kevin O'Connell adjusted his offense in any way to slow down the rush.

I just am of the opinion that those last 2 games got blown out of proportion. Guy had a killer season, all people wanted to talk about is those last 2 games. As if he was the only reason they lost.

Sam DID play against the Rams one other time aside from the Playoff game last season.

People focus on that and not on the regular season matchup that he lost.

Now someone tell me the Hawks wouldn't take that combined with a fully-healthy defense against those Rams on the 11/16.


I mean yeah...we'll need to score more points than just 14 here against Stafford but the point stands that Sam played very well here.

The offseason national media narrative was obviously that Darnold was a product of Kevin O'Connell's genius. I've been looking in on Viking YouTubers and message boards since summer because I wondered what THEY thought of their QB situation. Predictably, the on-the-ground fan narrative has been very different from the national media's version. Just like it's always been here so this is probably a league-wide phenomena. They've been complaining about Kevin O'Connell's play calling since I started following. The comments in this YouTube video are a product of last night's disaster, but they package up the sentiment.



Some examples:

Maybe O'Connell was the latest beneficiary of McVay/Stafford and then Darnold and not the other way around.
