Just saw the news that the Giants are giving the keys to Dart. An unexpected sadness came over me. Will Russell Wilson ever start another NFL game?
I was sick of him towards the end here. His primadonna attitude, his lack of magic, his questionable decision-making, and our mediocre roster pointing right at his cap hit. When we shipped him off for picks and players it helped bring us quickly to where we are today.
But, although I believe the defense and Lynch bully train were the 1-2 punch, there is no denying Wilson was a major piece. He played his role to perfection. It was when his role expanded, naturally from past successes, that the teams identity changed for the worse.
The way he was so efficient, making few mistakes, countless magician plays, iconic deep ball, knack for the big play, and most importantly.....the way he'd take over the 4th quarter. He was a winner.
But here we are today. The book is closing, and im not so sure the ending. And if he doesn't get in, you could say it was another casualty from that dreaded play call. If that pass is just a few more inches in on Lockette, or a split second earlier, he gets his Super Bowl MVP and his gold jacket.

Either way, "Go Hawks ! ",

He is the only Superbowl winning quarterback in Seattle Seahawks history. I will celebrate Russell Wilson the player. Russell Wilson the celebrity? Not so much.

Watch Rain City Redemption again and tell me you it doesn't hit you just as hard!
Russ was smack dab in the middle of that.

Sports are funny in that lifetimes are told a decade at a time. I still remember his 2012 preseason and being giddy that we found our guy...but now, he's an "old man" and it's over.

As the Player for the Seahawks, you celebrate him and his accomplishments here as well as praise him for helping to deliver a championship to Seattle.

As the person/primadonna? YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW, BEEYOTCH! 200

At this point, I feel sorry for Russ. I loved watching him play in his early years with the Seahawks, and I'm sad that it all came to this.

Mainly, I feel bad that he never recognized his failings and tried to correct them. Not just his deficiencies as a player, but as a teammate and human being. His story is the definition of a Greek tragedy, a man undone by his hubris.

At first, I thought that he was as humble as they come. Of course, I was wrong and that turned out to be just an act. I even thought he cared more about winning than his stats. That turned out to be wrong as well. When he left his wife and married Ciara (who is not Giselle Bundchen rich but pulls in over $20 million per year as an entertainer), at least I thought, well maybe he'll pull a Tom Brady and take less money so that the team will succeed. Again, I was wrong. Publicly. he seemed to say the right things and be a good teammate, but privately, it turned out he was not and was always stabbling someone in the back or throwing a teammate under the bus. Then, when age was catching up to him, and his inability to play in the pocket was exposed, I thought he'd be glad to finish his career in Seattle without demanding Mahomes money. Of course, we were very wrong about that.

I feel bad for him, that he doesn't recognize that his situation is of his own making.
