A lot of people were down on Murphy because he wasn't an all pro in his rookie season. Don't look now, but after 3 games he's #1 in sacks for his position. #1 in QB pressures. #1 in solo tackles. And #1 in stops. I think he was a pretty good 1st round pick despite the people calling him a bust or potential bust after his rookie season. He's making a difference on this defense.

He was a great pick and anyone that doubted him doesnt know ball
I blame fantasy football. People expect a new player is gonna make an immediate impact. I would argue that Murph made an impact last year, just not in the glamorous stats people seem to base their opinions on.

The comps were mostly, imo, the prospect of having Carter and Verse.

Murphy had an ‘ok’ first year but, there was definitely a feeling of ‘did we screw up’ on my end.

I’m happy he’s ballin! Dude is looking like a monster out there.

Besides, Carter is an asshat and Verse…well, he’s a Lamb so I despise him too—just now warming up to Kupp 😉.

I wanted Carter instead of Devon Witherspoon, but if Byron Murphy can play up like this, I'm so glad hes proving me wrong.

Its just Carter/murphy play such an important position versus a nickleback like Witherspoon.

Byron Murphy is a beast and he doesnt have the character flaws like Carter. Dude just puts in the work love the dude

💯.

When we picked him over Carter, I was like…‘who is this cat?’.

Wasn’t too long after that I was proudly rocking my #21 jersey.

Definitely one of my favorite Seahawks:

I wanted a QB at the time but the run on them had not left a value pick at the draft position. Just reaches. I was okay with the pick though it’s not a very exciting position. I’ve never said a bad word about the pick or the player and am glad he is succeeding.

As to Sutz and his hatred of all things fantasy football I doubt many here actually play it and I never have but he sees them behind every tree. Sad.

He could have a standout year, working with Leo & J-Reed is starting to show so far this year, and I'm excited to see what Murph will do this season 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I appreciate the reflection. I was the same but instead of qb I wanted a pass rusher. Thanks for your post

I loved the pick at the time. I was a little concerned going into this year if he was going to start taking that next step toward becoming a real stud of an NFL tackle this year. Who wouldn't be with a #16 pick in the draft? But I like what I'm seeing and have had my eye on him more than any defensive player this season so far.

Sure, Verse is looking like a real stud of a pass rushing end, which is the more valuable position in today's NFL. But hey, Howie Roseman picked Jalen Reagor before Justin Jefferson in the 2020 draft.

Spoon and Murphy>Carter and Verse in my opinion.
I’m riding with our guys..100%.

But, if we got the Jalen Carter that Philly has and Verse, we could have subpar DBs and still be nasty on D because opposing QBs would be under pressure the whole damn game.

I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda…

I rock my Spoon jersey on game days!!

I thought Murphy had a good start to the season but then the injury slowed him down.

A talented across the board d line helps him, only a few could impose their will without support, we had one, Taz and Reggie White to name two.
