Here on dot net, 49ers weren't quick enough to sign Darnold this offseason, a common occurrence for poorly run franchises. That's how our great Schneiders, John and Willie snatched Darnold. Not only that, Darnold sacrificed tens of millions just for that John Schneider QB certification.

What is elite? An elite do things the greats can't? Like what? How to measure eliteness? Anyone care to educate ole toffee?
Can an elite QB add 7 points a game? or 3 points? ok, not points, how about 3 additional wins a season? or 2, or 1? Would the cost of having that elite cost the team a few good players? Would the sacrifice of not having those few good players cost 1 game a season? or 2? or 3?
Can one of you smart people educate ole toffee?

He can have a it factor that raises the game of those around him, I give the guy a lot of credit, may not be able to throw the ball 90 yards on a line, but his team sells out for him, he's smart and exxtends plays and is a tough kid, Montana, Unitas, Greise, Stabler would not be what many of you call elite these days, but they win and guys would run thru a wall for them.

I think elite, especially at QB is a guy who can never be counted out. A guy that defenses have to specifically game plan for. Hes a guy that automatically makes the players around him better. A guy that wills his team to victory. For awhile Me3 was elite or at least extremely close.
Look at Purdys record with his offensive weapons healthy vs when they are out. Hes a good QB who can utilize the weapons around him. Elite? No. $53mill/year worthy. Market value and timing.

The only better QBs are Burrow, Mahomes, and Allen. This was the right move. I was hoping their front office was as dumb as our fan base and weren't going to make the obvious move and pay him.
That is hard to say. Him and Geno are the same.

purdy is a good QB, he is not Elite
Obviously this was the correct move for the 49ers.
They don't need CMAC, all they got to do is get a better OL and bring in JAG RB's.
Remember Jordan Mason, Isaac Guerendo, Mostert they used to beat up Seahawks D.
Purdy is young and is in 49ers system for at least 4 years+. He has the experience.
With the weapons of Kittle and Ayuk and Ricky, yeah he is still better than a rookie.

I was shocked by the extension IMO Purdy is a product of the system. I was expecting the deal to be done after July camp to give Shanahan more time to evaluate Mac Jones. The good business decision would be to go with Jones who is presently on a 2 yr $8.4 million contract

On dot net, any starting QB around the league is at least as good as Geno Smith; none of them were worse than him; therefore, he is geNO. The QB with worse stats? They just need better coaching, or, OL, or skilled position help, when all failed, just need more opportunities.
