Darnold is ultimately the better choice. It's been stated over and over that he's younger and cheaper, which is true. His deal is extremely team friendly compared to the level of commitment that Geno and his camp demanded from the Seahawks. Not only that, at the very worst, Darnold is gonna perform about the same as Geno did last year which apparently all of Geno's fans were pleasantly happy with, so if Darnold happens to get 4000 yards, 70% completion rating and 21/15 TD/INT ratio then what's the problem?Better at what? Passing up on easy runs? Picks in the red zone? Not seeing wide open receivers? Losing to teams over .500?
Darnold had a better year than Geno. Denial doesn't change that.
Ok, that's solid
I think fans have every right to be pissy about not signing or failing to sign at least an average guard or linemen during the offseason. If the last 10 years Seattle's Oline has always been okay, like between 12-18 then you know they've been coached right, made solid signings, or drafted well to stay consistent. However, Seattle's Oline has ranked more in the 24-30 range consistently. Why? Poor drafting, lack of investment, and jumping into the dumpster to sign players on their way out in hopes to finding a "gem". It also doesn't help that all to the world JS said that interior linemen or overpaid and over drafted. You are NOT living that down especially after 2024 where the line ranked as one of the worst (especially at G/C) in the league. To unf#ck that kind of situation you either needed to grab a good FA linemen or trade for one Thuney was a 4th Round pick, and yeah he's 32 but he would've been an instant upgrade.
So, unless JS drops the mic during the draft and takes the position seriously, fans have no reason to "trust" him not to do what he's always done.
If Darnold happens to achieve these stats while playing football that is generally as fundamentally sound as Geno did, I will be here defending Darnold against the box score stat jockeys and will be similarly annoyed with the team for failing to support the quarterback.Darnold is ultimately the better choice. If this is a true statement from whoever Viens is quoting while we sit pretty on 62 mil of cap room...
Good god.
Grain of salt and all that, but I'd be livid. And I've been vastly more patient than most when it comes to JS and the offensive line.

Unless, of course, ownership is balking at spending money...
The last line tells you what you need to know. JS felt that the Vikings offer wasn't a smart decision. So this was pretty much a lie then if he had the option to get Fries and opted out of it.

True, but she did legitimately have a source that has called stuff in advance before, including Grubb. Henderson says we were in on Fries, so there MIGHT be some truth to this given our general history of not wanting to really pay IOL.This is the same guy quote tweeting some person names Vegasmilf that Fries was coming to the Seahawks. I mean cmon.
That's what caused the scuttlebutt yesterday that he was gonna be here.

He’s gonna need a life line if drops the bag on the draft and punch up his resume.Nothing with John Schneider wanting to give the "Schneider Line" more time to mature. This is a line, after 100% assembled by him with draft capitals.
This is what I'm starting to believe, and Viens also mentioned that it was years and not the amount that we wouldn't match.Rumors going around that this might be more of a Jody thing than a Schneider one. Apparently, she won't sign off on deals longer than three years. Fries got five years.
