To me it's time for the team to also move on from Geno if they trade Metcalf.

At some point a recognition of continuing to wallow in average to good mediocrity as a team needs to change to a focus towards pure excellence and commit to real rebuild even if it means missing the offseason for few seasons.

This offseason is starting with less than positive news.

Smart move by the agent. DK wants a raise regardless of how he gets it and John doesn't want to give him that raise yet. Coupled with the rumors of trade talks - it'd be foolish NOT to request a trade.

This either forces our hand on an extension (which I don't think he's closed off to) or forces us to trade him to a team that'll pay him big when he gets there.

We'll see how it shakes out. Hate to lose him.

Yeah. I don't get the hate. Reminds me of Sherman when he left. Although their situations were different. The way our fans act, you would think the player in question committed some type of atrocity against their family or something.

I will say though, if he doesn't want to be here anymore, then let him go and try and find the best deal possible for the team.
Me neither. I love DK and his fire. Yes, it goes to far some times but there needs to be someone that looks like they care.

A few things we could speculate:
  1. DK and Geno lack chemistry, they may have a workmanlike relationship but not pals.
  2. Dk was closer to Wilson, and quite pally with Lockett.
  3. Is DK close to Carroll? There may be an angle here, the Raiders sure need WR.
  4. DK may fancy a bigger media market, NY? LA? umm, Vegas? Miami?
  5. DK may fancy a offense HC, SF? LA????
But see, Hawks ain't providing any of the above.

Anybody who actually knows football knew DK was never elite and would never be elite. Anybody who knows football also knows DK is a selfish player who loves himself a little too much at the WR position. That rarely ends well. We should have traded him when ppl had his value through the roof.

This entire thing is a failure. Now we are going to have to trade him after Deebo Samuel just went for a ****** 5th round pick.

Agree about Tyler, a class act and will be missed. Just think we are in rebuild due to our QB, Oline and who knows what with the WR's.
I think it's too early to know this. No call has been made on Geno's contract and the OL has been a multi-year issue.

If we cut Geno as well, then, yeah, we are in full rebuild mode but right now all we know is that DK requested a trade.

My bet is this almost entirely about money, but we'll see.

Crazy day for sure, though.

100 percent. Very good tactic by his agent. We've seen this for several years. X player says he wants a trade, a few days later....new deal.

I won't be shocked if they extend him, and I won't be shocked if they trade him. I want him to stay, but IF a big offer comes in, gotta' consider it. Like I said in the other thread, John wouldn't be doing his job if he doesn't listen to offers.

As far as all the other assumptions, meh. None of us truly know.

IDK if this is any thing to worry about. Seahawks IMO want to figure out what they end up doing with Geno before doing any big contract and this is Metcalf agent giving them a kick in the ass to move along extending Metcalf. They don't need to trade him and should only do it if they get an offer that makes sense for the team.

Deebo is a completely different situation and can't compare the two. If whoever takes DK makes it so the Hawks eat none of his cap than you are right.

The reason Deebo went so low was mainly because the Commanders got the 49ers off the books completely.

My guess is DK nets a high 2nd and a lower round pick. Hoping for a 1st but it depends on what team he goes to.
