For everyone asking why we'd trade DK, please don't forget that the Seahawks are rebuilding.

Let me say that again from the cheap seats, THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE REBUILDING THEIR ROSTER.

We are not one or two players away, we need several players on both sides of the ball plus 2 or 3 years to figure out if they're the right fit and integrate them into the system. The offensive line is this side of a disaster. We need a pass rush. We need a hard nosed corner to start opposite Spoon. And, oh yeah, we need a quarterback.
While I can clearly see what DK brings to the offense when he's on the field, I'd rather have a couple of picks to address the weak spots on the roster.

We need picks to fortified our Schneider line currently consist of Cross-haynes-Olu-Branford-Lucas

We need picks to replace Reed on our DL.

It's the trenches, damnit.

If...

If a ('26) first comes back in exchange for DK (or any player/package), to me, that is a strong predictor of QB being drafted next year. DK is a great player, but there are reasons to weigh a trade (already discussed). Anyone who believes a first round QB is needed, has to be open to anything that adds a high pick that could turn into a package to get into top 5 territory. I don't have a prediction as to whether it happens, but if it does, that has to be a major factor in the decision.

I don't think we're rebuilding at all.

Our defense was top 10 down the stretch -- in spite of being a new system and major personnel changes mid-season. And we finished a respectable 10th in sacks.

Our offense showed promise until Grubb made us so 1 dimensional. Now Grubb is gone and we have an OC that wants to play a ball-possession, ground and pound type offense that compliments our stingy defense.

Yes, our OL is average at best, but we have good young tackles and -- with the exception of Bradford -- a handful of athletic IOL that may thrive in the wide zone scheme. I believe the FO knows what they have in Oluwatimi, so if he's not what they want we can pick up a FA C like Dalman. Now we have quality at T-C-T and that will make our guard play better even before we talk about adding more talent.

As for needing a hard-nosed CB, Riq doesn't play as physical as Spoon, but he's made to cover the X receiver. Blessed with incredible speed he's sloppy and still needs to hone his craft, but even in a 'down' year he's still top 5 getting picks.

There's a thousand threads on Geno already, so all of this should be familiar: Geno is a decent QB and decent QBs cost $40M these days. When we can find another decent QB for less, I'll be just as happy as the geNOs to bid him adieu. But cutting him just for the sake of cutting him would gut the morale of this team, raise a red flag to any player considering Seattle in FA, and shift our QB market from a buyers to a sellers. In short, we still have a window where we can bide our time to level up our QB if the opportunity presents itself. Cutting Geno just closes that window and puts us into desperation mode. Saving the $30M for FA or whatever will not hide the fact that we don't have a starting QB anymore.

Dan is definitely my favorite podcaster.

Good to know it's being reported on both sides so it has some substance to it.
He is the Seahawks YouTuber I respect the most if it had been anyone else I wouldn’t have made a post on the subject. Since the post I have learned that Corbin Smith got his intel from one of his “Locked On” buddies who is a beat writer with the Packers, I am now assuming there is not much to it since no other legit sports reporting outfit has said anything

Deebo going to Commanders for a 5th round pick. We are not going to get a 1st or 2nd for DK…. Seahawks are better off keeping him.

The commanders are taking on his whole contract plus he’s had different types of issues and older. Getting a 1st is difficult for DK but deebo for a 5th is not really related.

Our OL, the Schneider line, is packed with young and high-ceiling players.

Schneider could potentially get a 4th if not a 3rd by trading Riq??

Did you read the posts on .NET? Geno, sorry, geNO is lower 1/3 of starting QBs, far from decent by definition, ain't it?

Suppose we get a 3rd for trading Riq. Do you think we could upgrade the position for a 3rd? If so, then why would anyone trade us a 3rd if they could get a better CB for the same pick?

.NET is not a place to go for valuation of Seahawks players.

Alright, but look at it from the other side. Would you want a proven talent or roll the dice on an unknown draft pick? I think teams would want proven talent over a roll of the dice. Sometimes it comes down to Risk vs. Reward

Schneider can use the 3rd on some of the other positions, like his favorite, IOL.

Probably out there to get the Raiders to offer more. If we get 1st plus (or multiple 1sts) I’ll know for sure who to blame for that Jamal Adam’s trade.

This was posted yesterday, don't know if it adds anything that hasn't been said already though.

I don't buy it. We've had a a year+ of trades happening for good WRs with pick packages we wouldn't want to take for DK and suddenly GB wants to ignore how low WR value has gone? Probably click bait.

Toffee was the one suggesting we trade Riq. I think we're set at CB.

But then who's your starting CBs? Spoon, Jobe, and Pritchett? No thanks. I'll take Riq, even with his warts.
Yeah, Pritchett is maybe a good 4th corner, but not someone I'd like to rely on as a regular 3d. Spoon, Riq, and Jobe are a decent front 3.

Nothing Riq has done after his rookie year suggests anyone would give us anything above a 5-6 rounder

Just a fun thought, we trade DK for a 2026 first round pick. That team goes defeated and we get Manning in next year's draft!
