I heard it. Sliding shoulda been an error blooper. Was it ruled a hit? On the radio they said it was in the guys glove. It’s crazy when you just put the game in motion. They have been talking about small ball and I love it. I like home run hitters but with the urgency of small ball mentality
I recall some years ago when we had 3 or 4 players with more than 30 HR for the season, and none of them had over 100 RBI. That means a lot of solo dingers. We're similar now IMO. We need some guys who hit for average and get on base to pump our big boppers' RBI stats.
I know that over the past few years I have been getting more and more pissed at their "hit it hard as you can" philosophy, which leads directly to more K's. We need some guys who hit for average, which involves swinging with a bit of intelligence and intent behind it. More contact for singles and doubles. Julio strikes me as a guy who can do both, hit for average and power. When he emphasizes power too much, you see a lot of whiffs with him screwing himself into the ground. He can hit for .270-.280, Ive seen him do it. If he hits with that average, the HRs will come naturally.
