This is purely anecdotal, and something like it has been mentioned before, but I've been to a bunch of massage parlors with back and nerve damage issues over the years, all paid for by my insurance company. I've never once entertained the notion that the place was anywhere but a place to get a massage. And I don't consider myself to be an unaware person about such things. Maybe the places I chose to go just had an air reputability about them.

I wonder if whether or not they take insurance is a good starting point about such issues?
Good point. Another tip off is the hours they're open. Most of the ones that are fronts for prostitution are open late, until at least 10-11pm, the legitimate close at normal business hours, like 5pm or earlier. That's not always accurate as there are some legitimate ones that are open as late as 9pm, but seldom do the rub and tugs close before 9.

I agree.
You either report it then or no crime happened, I'm sick of
seeing stuff coming out years after the fact.
It really seems like a money grab at best.

So basically, if a woman is too afraid, ashamed, or traumatized to report sexual assault or misconduct right when it happens, then no crime happened and they should have to just keep their mouth shut about it forever.

Nice.

You feel the same way if kids are involved? If not, why?

You think sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein shouldn't be held accountable for their actions just because they get away with it for a certain amount of time?

Remember, you're the one that made the blanket statement that "you either report it then, or no crime happened".

It stated they were High-end spa masseuses. if that is the case you just can't "pickle drag" staff at a high-end spa and expect it to not become an issue. He had to know he was not in a rub and tug joint across from a waffle house. Again, not defending or indicting him - punishment should be appropriately doled out as truth is established.
Dude, did you make up " pickle drag " ? I honestly wrote that down to use at work on Monday. That is awesome !

We all know what goes on inside many if not most massage parlors. So do the owners and employees of them. They are fronts for prostitution. Knowing the reputation their business has, if these establishments, 4 of which employed the therapists that are making the accusations, are legitimate, I want to know if they have in place procedures and policies that advise customers of expected behavior.

Do they have signage noting that soliciting prostitution is illegal? Do they allow clients to completely undress, with nothing but a towel covering their privates or are they required to at least wear gym trunks? What kind of attire do their therapists dress in? Are there any reviews of these establishments in the large number of adult websites that exists?

If, for example, a massage therapist allows clients to completely undress before a session and dresses provocatively herself, then I don't have a lot of sympathy for her if a customer goes a little too far. Not that it makes it right, but it does give a customer the impression that sex is on the table...literally.

The massage therapy industry is a very sketchy business. There have been incidents of business owners recruiting young women, mostly from Asia, and housing them at the establishment, at times not even allowing them to wander outside. They will insist that their therapists perform certain sex acts with customers and if they don't comply, they'll threaten them with calling ICE on them as many are here illegally. It's a business well known for sex trafficking. That's how Robert Kraft got caught as he happened to walk into a sting operation.

This creates a credibility issue with the people who work in them. I want to know a little more about the circumstances that existed, if that's even possible after 8-12 years, before I throw Justin Tucker under the bus.
Where the hell are you getting massages?

Holy shit, dude. This is not going on in "many if not mostl massage parlors." Massage therapists aren't whores for Chrissakes. They're hightly trained professionals that do a lot of training and professinoal development to get/keep their licenses.

Think there's some obvious confusion between a registered massage therapist and a prostitute...

I'm not getting massages. But I don't live with my head in the sand, either.

You're right, the majority of spas and massage parlors are legitimate that employ trained professionals. But you are very naive if you think that the rub-and-tug joints are an anomaly or are rare. They're in every town and city with a population of 100,000+

According to the US Department of Justice, there are an estimated 7,500-9,000 illegitimate massage businesses in the United Sates:

There are an estimated 7,500 to 9,000 illicit massage businesses (IMBs) currently in operation in the United States. IMBs are a venue that use the cover of a legitimate bodywork or massage business to provide commercial sex acts to a customer base of sex buyers. Many of the IMBs nationwide are at risk for engaging of human trafficking. These commercial-front brothels can include businesses claiming to provide massage, spas, reflexology, foot massage, bodywork, and modeling.

Compare that with the total number of spas in the US, about 30,000, that means that roughly 1 in 3 or 4 massage spas are fronts for prostitution. That doesn't qualify my statement as "most" but it sure as hell does for "many". And don't think that the legitimate spas aren't aware of the numbers. They know the reputation that their business has.

I've never been to one myself, but I had a family member who ruined his marriage by frequenting them, and the Deshaun Watson and Robert Kraft incidents made me dig into them a little more.

I live in the Tri Cities, and 2 years ago, they busted a number of rub-and-tugs that made the local news:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Six Kennewick massage parlors were shut down on Tuesday, May 16 (2023) for criminal activity and licensing violations.

According to the KPD the closures were the result of a months-long investigation initiated after the Department received complaints about the businesses.

All six of the businesses checked were closed for non-compliance of licensing requirements according to the KPD, and four were found to be offering sexual services.

Between the high-profile athletes, the local news, and my own family, it's caused me to look into them, do a few internet searches, and what I saw was an absolute shock. There are a number of adult websites where these rub-and-tugs will advertise in very explicit, unambiguous language, what their services include. I'd post them here if not for it being against this forum's TOS. But if you doubt me, do a search of your own for "erotic massage." As the saying goes, these businesses are hiding in plain sight.

Has it been determined if he was frequenting an actual massage parlor where its a front for prostitution or was it an actual legit place where a trained registered massage therapist works? I agree there are tons of seedy massage rub downs that advertise erotic or sensual massage. Just trying to figure out which type he went to? I went on Friday and the guy that gave me a real massage wasn't throwing in handys for an extra 20 bucks....since the guy is built like an o lineman his massage pressure is a lot so jerkin it all over the table was never a consideration.

As far as I know, none of the spas that Tucker frequented and from which the complaints have come from have been named. All I've seen is that they are "high end." That doesn't necessarily mean that no sex acts occur in them. It's certainly possible that even in legitimate businesses that one or more of the therapists could be giving "extras" for a fee and without the knowledge and/or approval of their employer, ie plausible deniability should the place ever get raided, like he's just the piano player in the whorehouse.

That's a reasonable theory of how this thing might have progressed. Tucker was going to legitimate businesses that accepted insurance, operated normal 9-5 business hours, etc., and ran into one or two therapists who responded favorably to his advances, leading him to believe that such services could be had at other spas if he made it known to the therapist what he wanted. If he went to the obviously seedy ones that advertise on adult websites, it could attract attention that a professional football player wouldn't want.

Maybe in your country...here i don't know of any legitimate actual massage therapy that would give sexual favors for cash. In fact the schooling is fairly intense and they make a good wage. The environment is quite controlled.

I know it happens as a family member of mine went to a so-called high-end spa, and he said that although he didn't partake, that sex was available.

The business requirements vary greatly from state to state. In New York, it's a criminal offense to practice massage therapy w/o a license. In other states, like Kansas, it's perfectly legal to employ unlicensed therapists. The process to obtain a therapist's license can vary greatly, too.

Here in WA, it depends on how the business describes itself. If they just say "massage", then they're probably good and can employ virtually anyone. But if they use terms in their advertising that implies certain techniques or methods, like reflexology, neuromuscular, deep tissue, etc, then they have to use only licensed therapists.

There's also the issue of business licenses that are approved by cities and counties. They can as terms of the business license require that they employ only licensed massage therapists, and if they violate it, they could lose their business license and be shut down, but not necessarily have to face criminal charges. That's what happened to the ones here in Kennewick that got shut down, they were out of compliance with their business license.

Busting the massage therapists for prostitution is very difficult. Like any other prostitution, about the only way is to use undercover LE or vice squads, and the understaffed police departments have better things to do than to pursue victimless misdemeanor crimes involving two consenting adults. What they'll go after, as they were in the sting operation Robert Kraft got caught up in, is if there is human trafficking involved, which is the case in a lot of these rub-and-tug joints.

Okay girls, JUST SAY NO, and terminate the session. Walk out the door and disallow him to come back again...... unless the money is too good. Which may be the reason why therapists come out with this after years... MONEY..

I still can't get past the time element. 16 People stayed quiet for all this time ? Word spreads fast in ordinary circles and much faster with high profile people. Tough to believe, but I could be wrong. Then again, it could be one therapist is credible and the others are just trying to get in on the payout.

If allegations catch fire and result in lawsuits and big money, I want in on that. So here goes ........ back in 2007 Oprah hugged me and now I am morbidly obese. She obviously spread that onto my personage, thus causing me a lifetime of pain, regret, and an undying yearning for pancakes. Where's my money, you disease infested freak ?
