Could have been given a handshake promotion in Detroit and a raise there, they need OC and DC, get that and not have to disrupt kids school and such makes staying more favorable, plus the fact he would be in a share responsibility and may not be the play caller here.

5 kids, how could he put in the 18 hours a day needed to succeed as our OC? we need someone who eats football, drinks football, and never sleeps.
That’s Jon Gruden. Sean Payton in an interview said when both were coaching in Philly Gruden was the OC and Payton was the QB coach. It was Payton’s first day he showed up at the facility at 5am thinking he would be the first one there it turned out Gruden had already been there for an hour

Exactly, hard to do that with five kids.

Maybe it's time to consider that this isn't that coveted of a job.

Fraley knows he has job security with Campbell. Here, he'd be moving across the country to take a chance on himself in a new position, where the last guy to hold that position was fired after just one season. Maybe it's too risky for him, especially with no long-term solution in place at QB.

It's still a job with considerable responsibility in the nation's premiere sports league. We won't get nobody, but I think there's a good chance we may have to take a gamble like we did with Grubb.
It's not. Geno isn't viewed around the league as highly as he is here and the line is bad.

The thing that stands out to me is Fraley is an OL dude that was interviewing here. Trenches rule the world, so to speak.

Anyone think he decided to stay in Detroit because JS would not fully commit to ideological changes to acquiring interior offensive linemen? All of JS teams have faced challenges along the line. That can’t be ignored.

Fraley wouldn't be handed the keys. MacDonald wanted to pair him with an experienced passing game coordinator and have them share the OC duties. He went a step beyond your normal passing game coordinator role. In addition to this you just had a QB that put together a bad year and you have an interior line that looks like a hot mess.

It's bad enough he doesn't get full reign, but when you add those other things in, it's understandable why he decided to go back to Detroit.

This OC situation is starting to get worrisome. I feel like they are going to have to "settle" again.

Right, it make sense. If he wants experience then Kubiak and Slowik are on the market, or give the reigns and all the duty to Udinski.

Believe what you will, but I don’t think this is that clean cut.

Confirms my thought that they arent high on anyone theyve interviewed so far.
No it doesn't. This is confirmation bias. It could. But probably it doesn't. They probably are high on Fraley. Fraley has five kids. A wife. And a much, much better offense in Detroit. There's a lot that goes into these decisions on both sides. Maybe he doesn't want to uproot his family. Maybe he wants to wait for a more regional opportunity. Maybe he realized he didn't want to deal with the pressure of being an OC at this moment.

Or maybe the Hawks said they are going to go in a different direction.

Exactly. Maybe is the word. We don't know. Anything else is supposition or confirmation bias. And discussing hypotheticals is fun. It's part of the purpose of this board.

But I get oh-so tired of what are basically "this proves I'm right" posts that offer nothing much more than conjecture as evidence/confirmation. We need a pat-yourself-on-the-back emoji.

acting like it was Fraley saying 'no' to the Hawks and that is the only explanation is amusing.
If the reports out there that Hawks made an offer to him were true, then yes, Farley rejected that offer.

Should have said it points to one thing i was considering. Of course Fraley and his family have a say.

I also dont think the FO is blown away by any one of the candidates so far. Nothing about anything that has come out confirms they've been overly impressed by any one of them. And why would they? Udi is promising but has no experience. Kubiak has the name, but runs a blocking scheme they moved away from last year and his offense is run by half the teams in the league (he has also been fired a few times). Fraley is a great position coach and loved by his guys, but did he show that he can run an entire offense? Brown hasnt shown much at all to get anyone excited. And leftwich, who actually has the best track record and most experience of anyone they have talked to, runs a pass happy scheme.
