JS seems to do his best work from the 3rd round on, so.......good stuff.
He can accumulate the picks but selecting good picks, he’s batting .300

If this was hitting in baseball those would be great numbers, but drafting for football players, maybe not so much.

But, I like adding these picks!

Come on, JS, you REALLY GOTTA NAIL this draft!

Turn it around man, so you won’t get fired!!!!

Come on, MAN!!!!!

I don't know man, the recent drafts added some pretty damn good players.
Yeah, 2024 was decent (Byron Murphy), but what about 2023 (Spoon & JSN), how much does JS need to hit on to be considered a great draft, if there are 6/7 average picks per year?

At least 2 or 3 right?

The last two drafts seem to be okay…the jury is still out for Tyrice Knight…I need to see more from him this upcoming season.

JS, has been about 2 guy average for good picks for these drafts these last 5 years or so.

He needs to bring that average up to maybe 3 good players…...and then Seattle and Mac can turn this ship around!

.300 is fantastic for hitting on picks past the first round. The draft is really, really hard.

I haven’t done the math but hitting on 30% of your draft picks might be close to the norm. Since there are 7 rounds, hitting on 30% is 2.1 players. I don’t believe any team has ever hit on all their picks. If you hit on 2 to 3 of your picks, you have had a good draft.

The entire first round has a hit rate of about 50% regardless of position in the round.

JS isn't competing against the League average now.... The Rams have been killing their drafts the last 2 years. They have had so many rookies and Sophomores playing at a high level they've rebuilt their team, unloaded a heap of dead cap and are still winning the Div and making multiple playoff games. If they weren't in the same Div, it wouldn't be so obvious and urgent. However, as it is, JS has to out-draft the Rams if the Seahawks are going to win the NFCW in the next 3 years. To do so probably means getting 3 starters and 2 or 3 rotational players plus some STers. That's a tall ask but, if not, it's losing more ground to them.

I've been critical of the FO on many issues lately but managing comp picks well in 2024 was a good move. The draft is essentially throwing darts at a dart board and quantity is the way to discover quality; the more picks that you have the more chances you get to find good players. The part I don't love is that they counted on these comp picks and traded away draft capital.

The Rams are a good comparison because their youth movement has been fueled by comp picks. Puka Nacua was drafted with a compensatory selection. Last year they drafted Kinchens with the pick they got for losing Raheem Morris and then had four more compensatory picks later in the draft due to FAs they let walk in 2023. Having youth on rookie contracts is amazing for salary cap management and allows them to overspend on other positions.

Of course we do have to draft well and hit on some young players. We're just a lot more likely to do so with more tries at it.

Derrick Hall has been great. 8 sacks 2 forced fumbles.Tyrice Knight is LOVED by a lot of ex NFL folks that are smarter than you and me. Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh. this was a great draft.

So you're saying of those 3 comps we're likely to get 1 good player? I'll take those odds...

I get the Ram envy. And I hate the Rams. They are the smarter people in the room though. All the moves they make seem to work out. Throwing all those picks and Goff at Detroit and getting a legitimate SB. They got the top receiver, just draft another one. Aaron Donald gone, just draft Verse. Lose coordinators, just make more. Own Seattle and beat us out the last two years. Hateful. Tough division.
