Ha. That is what I thought this year. I now believe that Bears fans have an exaggerated view of the talent level on the team, but we won't know for sure until we have some competent coaching. I think McCarthy is one slot above Pete on the list.

I heard there were many Native American groups who wanted the team to retain that name. I've read both pros and cons on the issue over the years. Yet Braves, Indians, Chiefs, etc is totally fine. Some of those logos, btw...Hmm...

Look, I'm not trying to start a "thing" here but I see massive hypocrisy where I see it. I never saw "Redskins" as a derogatory term. Unlike the "N" word. I took it as a place of warrior mentality where some tribes would wear red paint before they went to battle. But I admit, I don't know everything about this topic. One of our mods in fact is Native American. @Appyhawk please feel free to prove me right OR wrong here publicly.

All I can say is I personally never saw the term Redskins as a derogatory title.

A simple search:

• Some say the term was used by Native Americans to self-describe and distinguish themselves from white and Black people
  
  
• Some say the term carries cultural, historical, and emotional significance that honors Native American culture
  
  
• Some say the term is used affectionately by some Native Americans

I can't prove you wrong pard, but I can tell you I've been on both sides of that coin. I am not fullblood. I am Lakota/Osage/German and not at all bothered that I know next to nothing about anything German. When I was young living on the rez I was mostly just another kid, but there were a few that referred to me as "the white kid". I can't tell you how hurtful that was. Then when we moved to a town and I went to a school there the other kids called me "that Indian kid". It was obviously not a term of endearment.
It is true that red skin is a matter of pride amongst the people, but that was NEVER the intent when "redskin" was used by white people. When whites used that term it was always with curled lips and sneering voice.
In general the names used by other teams does not bother me, although I think the KC chop is a bit over the top. It isn't like all the people of Missouri have been open armed to Native People.
I always liked the Washington logo and colors even though I have read the model for it was actually a white man. I don't know if that is true or not but IMO the image has no denigrating effect, unlike the term redskins.
The Seahawks logo is one that IMO was employed the right way. It is an artwork style of a local indigenous tribe and in no way is demeaning but is representative of something that is a matter of pride for all of us.

Cant tell you how good it feels to know the Lions are out of it. I didnt mind the feel-good story that they were last year, but this year, i think they got a bit full of themselves and given the number of times their defense was exploited this year (by us included), ot was entirely premature.

That, and as much as i respect what Goff has done, the dude is a product of an outstanding system. I think this year will go down as his career high-water mark.

After watching the earth shattering performances by Barry Sanders for years that otherwise went for naught, and their incessant struggles since, I was rooting for Detroit to win the SB. But because I am one who like Dan Quinn very much, and loves Bobbby Wagner, I was also rooting for Washington. It's great when you can't lose! LOL

I live in the state of Virginia ( huge Redskin fan base) the true fans never accepted the name change, at least the ones that didn’t live in NOVA. It was the white liberal women who don’t watch football were the driving force to pressure Snyder to change the name

Long ago, when I didn't think about such things, I just thought the Redskins unis/colors, helmet logo, and even name looked and sounded cool. The helmet logo was a lot like the Chicago Blackhawks logo on the front and shoulders of their jerseys, which I always thought was one of the coolest looking, if not the coolest looking logo in the NHL. I liked the name Blackhawks, too. It also sounded cool.

I didn't really care that they changed the name of the team and got rid of the logo, as long as the people who had the most reason to be offended by it were in solid agreement about it. I mean, who am I to put up a stink of any kind about it?

But the Commanders? What kind of a lame arse replacement is that?

Wow, here in Michigan, they do NOT want to talk about the Lions today. I talked a lot of crap at work last week about how badly the Lions were going to lose, and I'm not the classiest winner, so I was very much looking forward to rubbing it in today. I thought rather than just walking in and gallantly spouting off a chorus of "How about them Lions?" at everyone, it would be funnier if I snuck it in casually somewhere. So, I walked in with my head down and kept my distance when I came in. Then during our daily morning meeting, I raise my hand and go "hey, has corporate said if they're planning on altering our schedule to accommodate those who want to attend the Lions' Super Bowl parade?". Crickets. It was very uncomfortable lol. I nearly needed to have my stomach pumped from the crow buffet I was force-fed after Ohio State lost to Michigan, but whatever. They really convinced themselves that this year would be different.
