This just kind of hit me and I was wondering what you guys think.

This defense front is going to be absolutely dominant barring injuries.

* Leonard Williams , although many complained about the draft capital Seattle gave for him initially, he imo is worth every bit they gave for him . He is a monster .

* Byron Murphy , a top 5 draft pick JS stole in the teens. He will be an all pro . I'd put him and Williams against just about any other Interior DL

* Derek Hall . Remember people complaining about him not living up to where he was drafted? I didn't say anything but I was thinking it. This season he looks like he's bigger, stronger and faster and meaner. Is it just me ? Damn

* Boye Mafe, I'm impressed that he appears to have made a jump from last season and he doesn't have to have Nwousu to have success. Which brings me to....

* Uchenna Nwousu , I can't wait to see what he brings to the team in a week or so.

This defense is operating without it's best rusher . For the first time in about 5-6 seasons I'm excited for the future. A big thanks to PC for showing us what championship football looks like .

Much respect

There's still some warts just now, especially on run defense but I think we are already improved on last year and I think will keep improving. Imagine this team in week 10 (barring injuries).

Historically it takes McDonald 2 years to get his defenses to elite level. So expecting steady progress and maybe another draft for LBer depth

I sincerely hope we draft for O-line help first before LB depth.

From my own personal observations, the only guy of the front five that doesn't currently live up to his contract is Dremonte Jones. He isn't bad, occasionally gets some push, but he also gets pushed around a little as well. Regardless, I expect play consummate with his salary. New position. I'll give him some time and the benefit of the doubt. Too soon to make a fair assessment.

Hall and Mafe are monsters. Mafe will miss tackles but gets penetration at a slightly higher clip than Hall. Both are extremely disruptive. They are really helping the secondary with the pressures.

Not saying I would have but with hindsight given the o-line issues would anyone have drafted Fautanu over Murphy?

No. Sure we needed o-line help, but to grab a DL of his caliber with that pick was a steal by any opinion from the talking heads. We desperately needed youth and strength on the DL. Murphy is coming around quickly. Great value.

Our head coach is a former DC so I don't think Fautanu was an option.

The DL is going to be a major problem once they really get in synch. Mafe is a beast...I would just like to see him not overrun the play, missing out on a sack, but just as a flat out disruptor he's been amazing so far. Same with Williams and Murph. When Nwousu comes back? Look the F out.

He just missed a lot, he will scale back a bit and learn and make those sacks at some point. He is probably just amazed he is getting there, our Ends were getting ate up a lot before. Murphy and Williams taking the hits for Hill and Mafe to shine.

Yes !!

Having a formidable interior changes everything. Before , the opponents could cheat and make sure the edge rushers couldn't get home thus giving the QB more than enough time to pick out secondary apart , whether it was a starter or a backup.

This will not be the case Sunday. Dare I say....

Book it.

Secondary though is ranked 2nd in the league and the defense overall is top 5 as a unit. I know it’s only 2 games but I like that side of the ball and how loaded we are with young talent
