Ty France is being waived outright. The speculation is that the Mariners will replace him with Tyler Locklear or Jason Vosler.

Mitch Haniger should be next.

Sorry to see that. Always liked him. He's been struggling, though, so let's see how they fill the spot on the roster.

He's hardly been the only guy playing below his career numbers and it doesn't look like they will save much, or even any money to do this. Personally, I think they should have dumped Garver over Ty. YMMV.

Saw him in the first game he was back. As others said, nice guy but not a good fit right now for the team.

Ty France was near the bottom of first basemen in MLB. You can't get so little production from that position. France also had a negative WAR.

The fact that they waived him meant that no one wanted him in a trade, not even for a low level minor leaguer.

Jason Vossler is being called up from AAA. He's batting .289 with 20 HRs and 19 doubles, 79 RBIs and an OPS of .883.

I just don't understand how a player has 2 good seasons and then turns
into hot garbage in the next two.
Someone had to be made an example out of, you have a job and are
expected to do it.
Wish him well though.

Haniger, Polanco, and Garver are all worse. Worse numbers pretty much across the board. BA, OBP, OPS, WAR, etc. all worse. Haniger and Polanco are down right bad on defense. At least France had a respectable OBP.

Yes, France was no where near good enough. Especially for a first baseman. But this team has worse problems, and several of them.

So many problems. The problem with Haniger, Polanco and Garver are the financial commitments we've made. Haniger is being paid $16 million this year, and $17.5 million next year. Polanco is owed $10.5 million this year. And Garver is owed $11.5 million this year and the same amount again next year. $38 million a year for bottom of the league production in those three spots. What a disaster.

Teoscar signed with the Dodgers for $15 million. We should have just signed Teo to be the DH. He's got 20 doubles, 20 HRs and a OPS of .806.

Teo probably wanted out I don't blame him.
Garver
Hanny
Polanco
Moore
JP
These guys gotta go too. You can't fill your entire line up with .200 hitters. Can't do it.
Mariners last in MLB in batting average, 28th in OPS and runs scored, first in strikeouts (by a mile), last in doubles.

And hearing that JP is pissed off about Ty being released. Cry me a river. Shut your pie hole, look in the mirror and produce.

It needed to be done but I don't like the way they've handed it having him hang around the clubhouse in limbo. If no one takes him it becomes a bit poisonous

I don't see anybody taking on his salary given his production this year. It's kinda like trying to trade people in football at the end of training camp. Just wait til he's released and pick him up in FA.

I kinda wish he clears waivers and chooses to stick around and get sent down to Tacoma. He could use the low stress work, I think.
