And just like that, $13M in cap space. Still not enough to make a huge splash in free agency (the 'Hawks are 22nd in relative space), but with a cut here, a re-work there, it's enough to remain competitive while mildly overhauling the roster.

What's our Salary cap after the Geno restructure? Does anybody know?
I believe the OTC number listed in the OP reflects Genos restructure.

What it probably doesn’t account for yet is any RFA or ERFA tenders we may make but even with those we should still be under. I do expect the team to make more cap moves in the coming weeks

The OTC cap figure is before EFRA and RFA tenders, so our actual cap will closer to $8.7M by my estimation. Of course, there will be more cuts and restructures so stay tuned.

I'm trying to give semi-regular cap updates in the 2024 Transactions pinned thread if you're a certified roster/cap like the rest of us there.

The team has $12.9 million in available cap space (total).

Basically $7.8 million in effective cap space, when you also factor in the cost of draft picks.

But there will be other costs that will come into play. So, they don't have a ton of wiggle room at the moment.

Aaaaaaaaand just like that we are under the cap!

Can we please fill the trenches with big bad bullies that play until the whistle?

Get rid of the high-salary non tacklers and free up even more $$$.

The thing I miss the most about the LOB days was how physical we were. Remember the tagline: Bigger, Faster, Stronger?

I want us to be the bullies again!

I hope that means Tyler will be here next season.

Me too, but I think they'll still want him to restructure to some degree.

I'd like something along the lines of maybe an extension with one real year and a void year, and just spread his cap hit across 4 seasons. This would be kicking some dead cap into the future, though, and generally speaking, Seahawks since Schneider has been here have mostly tried to avoid doing things like using void years compared to other teams.

(I might just be overly fond of Tyler, though, because I've always loved those scrappy WRs the Seahawks have had the past couple decades who were always that reliable 'get out of 3rd-down-jail free' card, like Doug and Bobby Engram, so this might actually be a terrible plan.)

A lot of that is going towards leonard.... Going to be let down if you think hawks are going big in FA

You're including draft picks but not the players they replace for the 51, they'll be closer to 10 than 8 unless my math is off.

They'll have plenty of wiggle room once guys like Bellore and mone are gone, along with several Restructures

I forget the exact math I did, but I had us a bit over 15 mil after the draft, cuts, Restructures and signing leonard

That's without cutting any big names, but still not a ton of room considering the gaps at NT, IOL, MLB

Can't address that all in the draft, it's one of the reasons I wanted to trade geno, add the 22.5 mil and a qb on rookie pay and it would have been smooth sailing 😡

What if instead of signing Leonard we go for DJ Reader?
He'd be a great fit, but would kill a comp pick for Bobby and/or Brooks... I'm also concerned about his health vs leonard.

Wed also be competing for reader so more likely to overpay, we have tag rights to leonard so exclusive negotiating rights unless we were to allow him to seek a trade

Worth noting that we need the full tag amount available in order to use it, I forget the exact math since he had a weird contract but it'd be like 21 mil to tag him. We don't need to account for draft picks at that juncture though

EDIT: we definitely need a vet nose tackle, can't just plug in reed and a rookie

That's the current math according to OTC.

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/seattle-seahawks

No future cuts or signings are taken into account.

I think otc is counting draft picks, they don't need to be in compliance until June iirc, in terms of tagging/resigning leonard, the picks are somewhat irrelevant

EDIT: even so, reworking the safeties (Adams/diggs, maybe love), lockett, mone, dissly, Bellore, maybe dre'mont, Myers.... there's a lot of room seahawks can create, even without significant cuts via extensions /Restructures

DK won't sign it, but I'd love to extend him for a couple of years before JJ/Chase get ridiculous contracts and reset the wr pay scale

Seahawks sit at 16.1 million under the cap.

That number includes all 2024 projected draft pool money and dead cap hits of players that are
no longer on the team but doesn't include any free agent that might be resigned.

That actually specifically doesn't include the draft

"Estimated cap dollars necessary to sign upcoming draft picks (not included in the cap figure yet)"

Specifically under projected draft pool cap, kind of difficult to see.

That being said they don't need to be compliant until September I believe, so they're irrelevant for the time being, but at some point the projected 9.3 minus the trash players they're replacing need to be accounted for.... Will be closer to like 4.5-5 when including the players pushed out of the top 51

Great explanation there

Good catch. They must have added that little statement after the new cap number was announced.

So that puts us at approximately, 7.2 million give or take a million.
