Just heard on the radio that Kiper has Seattle taking JJ at 16, even though he didn't give JJ a 1st round rating.

Not trying to sell him just mildly surprised at how many posters judge a potential prospect based on very little to no data instead of reading at least one pertinent article before rushing to judgment.

Never said he was the #1 pick but he clearly could be a 1st round pick and people saying they wouldn't even take him in the 6th round just look like haters.
He is just as likely to be the next Paxton Lynch as every other QB in the draft. It is a crap shoot regardless. Look at the Panthers QB this year.

The likelihood of him being another clipboard holder is pretty high - just like it is for all of these QB's.

I doubt Penix will be there at 16, so that's why I'm intrigued by JJ. The new hc could trade up however. Literally anything is possible at this point.
penix is literally there at 16 in almost every mock. Most don’t have him a 1st rounder. On NFL.com both the guys had JJ and Penix as 2nd rounder.

Good to know. I saw a mock that had the Broncos taking him at 14, but with his injury history, you're probably right.

I trust my eyes. Out of the league within four years. Bookmark it and humiliate me at a later date if you like. He sucks. Would be the worst pick for Seattle since Curry.

If you understand how field position works, you also understand that it isn't reliant on just takeaways. Forcing teams to punt on their side of the field is the most common way that field position is gained.
If JJ lands with the right team your gonna look a fool! Kids has Cousins & Goff covered as a floor, ceiling is sky's the limit.
Field position? He isn't Lamar by no means, but again the right coach, between DK & JSN as possession recievers, K9 & Charb @ RB, and with JJ's atheltism we could be a top 10 team in 3rd down conversation & Redzone.

Good god. JJ is barely a backup.
He isn't accurate. He does have WRs and TE with incredible catch radius to compensate for that. But he's the 2nd coming of Rick Mirer. Unless you plan to keep him to trade for the 2nd coming of Walter Jones there is no reason to draft this guy.

He had a great coach and incredible roster, on a team that basically won with D and the RB.

This is a hilarious thread. No. I don't want a crappier version of the unholy combination of Rick Mirer and Trubisky.

I can only speak for myself. "Thank God your not in the draft war room" with narrow thinking like that you must be ok with Pete/Geno marriage lol?
JJ isn't accurate, 70% completion isn't good enough for you? Roman Wilson his #1 WR is 5'11", is that a huge catch radious, uhm no. Only 4 turnovers all season. Can't throw or wasn't asked to often? Well when asked he dumped 3 tuddy's on Bama, so argue that? JJ is fantastic using his athleticism to extend plays & drives, and has great touch when scrambling.

In the Bama game JJ looked like garbage.
My actual comment in the game thread was that JJ 'looked like a blind Trent Dilfer with a broken arm'. THAT is your example of one of his good games>?

He wasn't tested all year. His defense kept him out of pressure and his RB made it impossible for defenses to do much more than focus on the run. Of COURSE he completed some passes. So would Rick Mirer. What is your point?

He rarely, if ever, had to carry the team.

Then sure, Michigan beat UW in the National Championship game. But he struggled to move the ball or score for drive after drive against a UW defense that let everyone walk up the field and score against us all year. Michigan won because Corum gashed the UW D repeatedly, not because of JJ.

His numbers looked OK until you watched the games. Then you saw the team was winning despite him, not because of him. If the Seadragons still existed, I wouldn't even want him for THAT team. (yes I watched those games). God knows I don't want him for the Hawks....ick. Gross even.

Looked like garbage?? McCarthy: 17/27 for 221 yards 3 TD and 0 INT against a good Alabama defense. Milroe: 16/23 for 116 yards 0 TD 0 INT.
He wasn't tested and didn't have to carry the team because they didn't need him to win games with their rushing attack doing all that damage. Is that McCarthy's fault??
NCG McCarthy went 10/18 for 140 yards 0 TD and 0 INT. Granted not impressive but it didn't need to be when Michigan sets an NCG record with 303 rushing yards. Washington's secondary was good it's their run defense that wasn't.

McCarthy hasn't been given the opportunity to show what he can do yet because Michigan didn't need him to. If you've been watching, he has shown glimpses of it throughout the year. I suspect that everyone will have their eyes opened in April.

People are allowed to have opinions. Some are impressed with him, some are not. Welcome to college football talk.

Florida and loving GOP country!
I like what he brings to the table, but the wind up when he throws and lack of zip on the ball concerns me. I like that he is super young and could make the throws and plays when it mattered. All QBs are a risk coming out of college it seems, but if JS thinks this is his guy, then I'm on board.

I did hear a breakdown of him last night. I didn't realize he's only 20 years old. What I heard makes sense: If you want a guy to start NOW, he's not your guy. But if you want a guy to sit and learn for a couple of years, he would be a good choice.
But at 16, for a team that needs a QB NOW? No thanks. I'd rather they build in the trenches.

McCarthy is 21 and has two full years of starting experience for a big-time program, which is twice as much as CJ Stroud had, who was drafted last year as a 21-year-old.

Well, he turned 21 4 days ago............so ok :ROFLMAO:
Forgive me, I missed the 20-year-old thing by 4 days. I'm so ashamed.
Geezus man. I don't think he's ready. You have your opinion and I have mine. That's still allowed on here right? If he ends up here and lights it up, great.
If he played for THE, you'd probably be drooling all over him.

So, now you're putting him on the level of Stroud? FINALLY, an Ohio State QB who panned out. And he's VERY good.

Why do you always need to remind everyone that your comments are your opinion? Most of us figured that out based on the fact that you wrote them.

God, I've never seen anyone so afraid to be challenged. If you don't want people calling out your opinions, maybe you should express fewer of them.

Dude, I'm just messing with you. Relax.
Opinions vary on the guy, and that's cool.
God you're an a**hole sometimes. And that's fine, because so am I. I think the Jury is still out on the guy, at least early on. And that's not just me, most of the people I've listened to who get paid to evaluate have said he needs a year or two on the bench before he starts in the NFL.
