Too small? There’s a point to moving the balance point out and resetting the defense.
Some said Red Bryant was too big when Pete moved him out there, but Vince Wilfork was heavier and played the same role for NE.
By the way:
Mazi Smith: 6’3” - 337 lbs
Red Bryant: 6’4” - 323 lbs
Vince Wilfork: 6’2” - 325 lbs (more likely 350+)
Smith is a bit stronger, has 80-7/8” wingspan, and is quick for his size. Maybe Wilfork and Big Red weren’t good enough in those roles…?
