I've never been a fan of how Pete handles the game between the whistles but if there is any professional coach that is worse, it's definitely Mike McCarthy.
How the heck do you not challenge that fourth down ruling?
Eh, still don't think Pete's good at game management but I believe for sure there are other coaches that are as bad (or worse, as McCarthy is).Pete's actually surprisingly typical with a lot of his challenges and in-game decisions, from my perspective. There are some real doozies all around the NFL weekly.
Tacitly admitting Pete is bad at game management, but it is okay because look at the rest of the league is not a good look for Pete.Pete's actually surprisingly typical with a lot of his challenges and in-game decisions, from my perspective. There are some real doozies all around the NFL weekly.
Oh, a deep dive? Cool, I'll give you a starting point on the challenge front.Tacitly admitting Pete is bad at game management, but it is okay because look at the rest of the league is not a good look for Pete.
I need to do a deep dive on this one of these days, ranking all 32 HCs on game management. I'd be surprised if Peter didn't finish bottom 8 along with Mike McCarthy, but who knows maybe he is middle of the pack.
I do know he burns a lot of timeouts, doesn't/does challenge at the wrong times, and luvs 2 punt when he should go for it.
I watch a lot of other teams and not many come to mind being worse than Carroll in this area.
I can guarantee you will rank Pete at/near the bottom, but it won't have anything to do with reality.Tacitly admitting Pete is bad at game management, but it is okay because look at the rest of the league is not a good look for Pete.

When Fade call's Pete "Peter"... He's ruminating too much.
\Anyone who doesn't see that Carroll uses his challenges to pause momentum changes does not know football. They may see it from an intellectual stand point, but don't get the emotions of it. Perhaps they never played the game. How many times have football fans see a turnover or big defensive stop that leads to a score almost immediately? That huge emotional swing plays a big part in it and the challenge takes some of that emotion and lets it bleed out over the several minutes that the refs take while conferring.
And even still, Carroll's challenge win rate is higher than average. I can't get behind the challenge criticisms at all.\
This is Fact. When the other team is taking off, and our defense is getting beat up, Pete will throw a flag to slow things down and hope he gets lucky. Challenge flags have more value than just challenging a play call.
