Did the NFL look weird to you yesterday? It did to me.

Used to be that teams came out of the preseason, having used a few games to get tuned up (plus scout new talent) and then that final game to get everything to full speed. Sometimes the starters would play almost a full game in that final preseason game, but usually at least a half. Now, teams kept most of their key starters out but for a series or so.

And everyone looked off yesterday.

I need to see a few more games to get a feel for where things are, but I suspect some wins and losses yesterday won't at all be reflected in the better or worse teams at the end of the year.

Ignore the stats, Tagovailoa was poor. He played like Lock but got better results. His new technique is to wait until he's in the grasp and then try to throw the ball away. It's going to end badly for him in 2022.
