Wow. That's a devastating loss for them. They had no depth at WR as it was. Might be the worst possible news for them outside an injury to the QB.

I'd say Justin Smith tearing his achilles would be worse as well, but that's really about it besides obviously the QB.

It's not out of the question for Crabtree to return this season, but that's going to be a hell of an uphill battle for him. The 49ers are going to need Boldin to be the Boldin of the '12 postseason and not the Boldin of the '12 regular season.

Nasty injury. My cousin had to give up his NFL career because of it. Crabtree is a lot younger than he was though.
