During the 2005-06 magical run to the Super Bowl.. if you may remember, the Seahawks finished 13-3.. had the 1 seed and HFA wrapped. They would host the 6th seed Washington Redskins, on a Saturday afternoon at the CLink (though it was still Qwest Field then).

The parallels between that team and this one are pretty eerie.

- A concussion knocked out a key offensive weapon (Alexander, Harvin)

- The weather wasn't ideal.. as it rained for most of the game

- The offense sputtered throughout the game while the defense played very well.

- An unsung offensive player would have a HUGE play in the 4th quarter to help pave the way to a victory (Mack Strong, Baldwin)

The Seahawks would go on to win 20-10 that day. 8 days later they would look like a completely different team on offense, and an undermanned Panthers team would have no shot in hell that Sunday evening.

The 49ers are obviously not the 2005-06 Carolina Panthers .. but this just goes to show you that in the playoffs, the BIGGEST thing.. especially after a bye.. is just moving on. It doesn't have to be pretty.. just. move. on.

Agreed. A win is a win. The only real difference between 2005 and this year is that they were consistently good on offense the whole year. That's not to say we can't do it next week though. We are more than capable of putting up a great offensive performance, we've seen it. Like you said, just move on. GO HAWKS!

Man, you are what you are.

The 2005 team was an almost great offense and an average defense.

The 2013 is a truly great defense and a below average offense.

Special teams: even
Secondary: hawks - by a wide margin
Linebackers: 49ers
D line: hawks
O line: clear advantage 49ers - not even remotely close.
Recievers: 49ers, again, not even remotely close.
QB's: Wilson

This game is a coin flip, period.

2005 had the best offense with an above average defense.

2013 is the best defense with an above average offense.

The Seahawks scored 16 points in the first half against a quality defense (#4 in points allowed). If the Saints showed any signs of making it a game, they didn't do it after 3 QTRs.

It was painfully obvious with anyone with a brain the Seahawks weren't trying to earn skill points but was just trying to run the clock out without giving up a turnover and win the game. And when the Saints finally scored, the Seahawks answered back in just 2 plays.

Say what you will but this team is much better than what most people are giving them credit for especially this offense.

San Francisco have scored 23 points in 3 straight games, conversely, Seattle has only allowed an opponent to score (exactly) 20 points once since November 4th, and that was in a game where we scored 41 points and finished with Maragos, Farwell, Lane, Morgan, Johnson etc playing instead of Thomas, Wagner, Sherman, Irvin, Chancellor etc.

So I have the utmost confidence that if we score 23 points ourselves, we will win comfortably, and given we have only failed to reach that mark twice in our last 9 games, I fully believe we will win.

Of course, the bad news is that we lost both of those games...
