Yep...everyone talks about the defense, and even Wilson/Lynch on offense, but very little is made about the Special Teams. Really the only times I've heard any discussions about this is by announcers during the past few games. Our special teams have been amazing...not only on punt returns, but kickoffs and field goals as well.

Best news is we haven't been punting much lately.

I wonder what the NFL record is for least punt return yds allowed in a season?

The record is 22 yards by GB back in '67 but they only played 14 games then. Record for a 16 game season is ATL with 49 yards in 2008.

Ted Ginn and Tavon Austin are the only ones that have done anything against us.

Everytime we punt or kick off and the other team catches the ball I always yell "JUST TAKE THE KNEE!!!!"
I've been doing it so much the fans in my section chant it to now.

they should take the free advice.

That's unbelievably awesome. I had no idea. OK, I had some idea. We root for a really good team. I just didn't know of some of the more obscure stats. Well done 253, and Seahawks ST.

It's truly impressive not only for ST stats, but I like to think it really helps our defense out, too. The league average is over 9 yards per return; that can be the difference between getting into FG range or having to punt when a drive stalls.

Seahawks poised to break one of NFL’s oldest, most obscure records

The NFL record for fewest yards allowed on punt returns in a season is 22, set by the last of Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers teams in 1967. That, though, came in a 14-game season. The record for a 16-game season is 49 by the Atlanta Falcons in 2008.

Either mark is fine with the Seahawks.

The most impressive I think was the Rams game, 7 return yards on 9 punts with only 2 fair catches. Amazing stat.

Didn't they change the rule for punts? Or was that for kickoff? There's more touchbacks now--it's a different era.

With how good Hauschka and Ryan have been, when you factor in the return yards allowed and how good Tate has been on punt returns...we may be looking at the best Special Teams unit in NFL history.
