Not sure I understand this. Another QB !?

Don't know who would be released from the 53 to make room. Remember: We also need to release one more for Bruce Irvin's spot.

So we're looking at 2 players that need to be cut or IR'd this week.

Who gets cut? Figured they would try getting him on the PS if the 9ers didn't opt to go that route, but to put him on the 53-man, did not see that coming.

No, this is completely understandable. BJ plays a lot like 3-lite. If TJ turns his stay here into an opportunity elsewhere, BJ could be a great backup.

So my thoughts - Tarvaris has looked good. Will probably get $1-2 million in FA next year. Daniels is on a rookie 7th round contract so can't negotiate for even 3 years.

I think this is a money move for next year really and we are going to eat a roster spot to figure out if we can use him in the backup role. It does make sense from a financial standpoint and so far RW has been very durable

And, because he was cut, not claimed from an active practice squad, he does not have to go on the 53, IIRC.

The Seattle Seahawks have claimed quarterback B.J. Daniels off waivers from the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers, according to a league source.

Daniels was released Tuesday along with fullback Owen Marecic with the 49ers adding quarterback John Skelton and outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham.

A seventh-round draft pick from South Florida, Daniels finished his collegiate career with 8,433 yards, 52 touchdowns, 2,068 rushing yards for 25 touchdowns. He finished with 10,501 total yards of offense and 77 touchdowns.

Part of the Waiver process is that you need to pick up that player's salary. 2013, signed a four-year, $2.206 million contract.

Where did you learn your football rules? He was claimed off of waivers, he must go to the 53 man roster.

Makes sense - We could use a 3rd QB to throw passes during practice and the Hawks liked him during the draft process. He has some skill-set similarities to Wilson too.

Seeing as that is probably for league min, and only the top 51 count against the cap, even if he makes the 53 he is not cost prohibitive in any way.

Top 51 is only true before the season starts... Again, where are getting your football information?

No, but it does show a commitment.

The SF radio guys are pissed. They said Daniels is the perfect backup QB to mimic Kaepernick. Have no idea why the 49ers would cut him and said the 49ers just went out of their way to make their team worse in practice.

This could be a good pickup. Young, mobile QB!
