Well this is where the Hawks paid the piper with injuries depleting depth and that's just plain bad luck.

Lane went out early allowing Simon to get targeted and torched for the most part.

DT was already weak but the Hawks hit on a winning combo with Avril and Irvin outside while sliding Bennett inside. Once Avril went out with the concussion, they had to play Bennett outside again and that was the end of the pass rush for all intents and purposes.

Without pressure, Brady carved them up.

The other issue is that the offense had a chance to bury them up 10 and had a 3 and out and the drive where Kearse dropped a big downfield pass play on 3rd down.

You do realize that we were playing another 12-4 team that had been red-hot on offense?

Both teams deserved to be in the SB. There weren't any ridiculous mistakes by the defense (except a few arm tackles and KJ Wright on Gronk) -- It didn't help that Lane went down so early.

Patriots and Brady are masterful at the dink and dunks.

The Lane and Avril injuries were very important. We had found a pass rush rhythm that noticeably dropped off once Avril left. Simon is not as disciplined as the others in the secondary, and the Pats exploited him. Against Tom Brady, they were giving their all, but finally injuries - and a lack of depth because of them - caught up to us. I know - next man up, can't blame injuries, etc. - but it was a factor.

I'm concerned if Maxwell gets a huge contract elsewhere that then both Lane and Simon are on the field at the same time next year.

I found it interesting to say the least that Avril immediately went into concussion protocol, and Edeleman - who missed the last two regular season games with a concussion - was allowed to stumble around out on the field, even though Pats claim he was checked. He called us St. Louis in the post game presser.

The defensive depth that helped us dominate the SB last year came back to bite us in the ass this year, it's a simple as that.

Last year we had Clem, Big Red, McDonald, Hill, Thurm......and Lane and Avril. This year we had Dobbs, Cohen, Schoefield, McDaniel and Simon, and those guys didn't step up.

Horrible luck for sure, but in the end for two years we had the depth for players to step in and not miss a beat, and this year? No so much.

Depth issues aside, its all moot if they hand the ball off at the 1.

Our defense was decimated by injuries. Avril's concussion reduced our ability to rush the QB. Kam's knee brace limited his range of motion. Thomas couldn't wrap up on tackles or make his normal plays in coverage. Sherman was playing with a chicken wing. Lane's gruesome injury forced us to mix our coverages around and thrust Simon into action. Simon was also playing with a separated shoulder and broken finger.

All of these injuries piled up and the Patriots took advantage and barely eked out a win.

4 of our top 6 linemen weren't on the field for the fourth quarter.

4 out of 5 members of the LOB were playing hurt or on the sideline.

Lane was huge. As I said elsewhere, having Simon in for Lane cost us 14 points.

Without his injury, we win by 2+ scores.

This. Don't get me wrong, I'm pissed as hell we gave up a 3rd and 14, and a 3rd and 8, but our offense picked a terrible time to crap the bed on back to back drives. Outside of a turn over, it was the worst two series we could've had. The defense didn't even get time to catch their breaths, look at some film and reset.

The game was won and lost on both sides of the ball.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. If Palmer doesn't get hurt, the Cardinals probably win the divisions. If Rogers doesn't get hurt, the Packers probably beat the seahawks.

As annoying as this tard troll is the point he is making (not the result) is on. We cant make excuses due to injury. That is part of the game. Just think we played with all those injuries and still only lost because of one play. Imagine us full strength. Ouch.
