“We’re in a tight game, we punt, they’re down, backed up on their own 2 or 3-yard line and try to throw a screen pass to Maxx’s side and he puts the cut block on the ground, gets up, one-hand interception against his knee and walks in for a touchdown,” Needham said.

“And we didn’t know what happened. We had to watch the replay to see what happened. Cause he’s cat quick. He’s quick, now. … When we needed a big play, when you needed it, that’s when Maxx was at his best.”

Crosby said “it wasn’t an easy decision” to leave school early, but that he believes he’s “physically and mentally ready to take the jump” to the NFL.

At the NFL combine last week, Crosby ran a 4.66-second 40-yard dash at 6 feet 5 and 255 pounds and posted the second-best three-cone time among defensive linemen of 6.89 seconds.

Michigan defensive lineman Chase Winovich goes through workout drills during the NFL combine at Lucas Oil Stadium, March 3, 2019.

Winovich's 40-yard dash time of 4.59 seconds on Sunday ranked four among all edge players at this week's combine and his 20-yard shuttle time (4.11) ranked No. 1. His vertical of 30.5 inches ranked second, as did his 3-cone drill of 6.94 seconds.

Meet Maxx Crosby, Eastern Michigan's pass-rushing sleeper prospect

JM: You’re a talented and effective pass rusher. Do you have a go-to move?

MC: I would have to reference my double sweep and rip. That’s my favorite move. I just feel like my hands are a big strong point of my game. Whenever the offensive linemen shows me his hands, I like to come with a double sweep. It’s my best move. Whenever that happens for me, I come away super clean and end up making a play on the quarterback. It’s definitely my signature move.
JM: Say that move is stopped. How do you counter?

MC: One of my favorite counter moves is to take two hard steps up-field and come back underneath with the over swim move coming inside. That throws the offensive tackle off and keeps him on his heels at all times.
