He has a Super Bowl ring and he's regarded as one of the best defenders in the NFL. But Richard Sherman wants more.

The Seahawks cornerback would like he and his cohorts to showcase their skills for the entire world to see.

American Football has a low international participation rate and popularity, and there are other difficulties involved. The only reason to add it is so we can smack the crap out of everyone, but there's really not a lot of sport in that.

I'd be more concerned with getting baseball, softball, netball, cricket, and squash/racquetball into the Olympics. It's still crazy that they nixed baseball in 2012. There's horse dancing but no baseball? Seriously? And this is coming from someone who doesn't like baseball.

Wait. Stop! I can't get enough of Olympic beach volleyball. How am I supposed to handle Olympic football?

If Sherman gives the IOC a sizeable enough brown paper bag donation, Football will be an Olympic sport while he's still young enough to partake.

If he wants that then perhaps he should fight to get the pro bowl to become a real game instead of the watered down version it is. Move the Pro Bowl back after the Super Bowl then have it in a different international country every year. Increase the paycheck for the participants to.

A 53 player NFL dream team might be fun to watch, but I feel bad for teams like China at the line of scrimmage. The Russians would look like KC at home in their unis.

Basically, the USA would destroy everyone on the way to gold and Canada would destroy everyone (aside from getting blown out by the USA) on their way to the silver.

Though for the USA no player would have to start more than one game each.

Recovery time between games is way too long for it to be concluded in the allotted time between ceremonies.

People actually still care about the Olympics? There's a reason it's popularity is declining...

53 a side football no. However 15 a side rugby union will not get into the Olympics, but 7 a side, short Rugby Union sevens is being introduced in Rio. Discounting that the sport was in the Olympics in 1900, five day test match cricket no. 3 hour T20 games could be considered as there are 10 test match countries, but around 40 or countries playing T20.

So the only football that could be considered is something similar to the Arena league.

Fun fact: USA is the current gold medal holder in Olympic Rugby.

The US has held the medal since 1924 when Rugby was last contested in the Olympics.

Lots of interesting sports don't even participate (Football, Baseball and Ice Hockey for example) and the ones that do don't give a damn (Soccer, Basketball and Tennis to name a few).

The only sports that care about the olympic games are swimming and athletics, which are just bland pissing contests on who is the fastest in something.
