Interesting.

The Seattle Seahawks decoded Peyton Manning's pre-snap audibles just a few drives into the Super Bowl, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman told the MMQB's Robert Klemko.

Manning is known for employing a series of shouts and gestures before the snap, all of which are designed to adjust offensive plays to take advantage of whatever coverage the defense is playing.

His now-famous "Omaha!" had baffled teams and onlookers for weeks.

But Sherman says the Seahawks figured out what the hand signals meant early in the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos, and just started dominating."

"'We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes. Then we figured out the hand signals for a few of the route audibles in the first half.'

"He demonstrates the signs Manning used for various routes, and says he and his teammates were calling out plays throughout the game and getting them right. 'Me, Earl [Thomas], Kam [Chancellor]… we’re not just three All-Pro players. We’re three All-Pro minds,' Sherman says. 'Now, if Peyton had thrown in some double moves, if he had gone out of character, we could’ve been exposed.'"

Wow if this is true that is INSANE. They would truly be the best defense EVER if they were able to dcode manning after Manning has made a HOF Career of killing defenses with all of that and the D not being able to know whats going on

WOW! Just WOW! Consider me even more impressed than I already was before. You get guys who can do that ... and you're going to win a heck of a lot of football games no matter WHO the QB is they're facing.

Impressive, but not surprised. This defense is not only physically dominant, but dominate in the cerebral aspect as well.

Cool. U'd think a pro-team with a hall of fame QB would be able to disguise their play calls better than that. How common it is for defenses to crack another teams calls?

If this true, this is the greatest defense ever.

If it's not true, they're still the greatest defense, but they're also great trolls.

That's cool, but we are playing them next year. Why let the cat out of the bag?

Doesn't matter. Hand signals, code-words, whatever.... they are constantly changed throughout the year, most likely week to week. What was for the Super Bowl will not be for next year.

Question: Can someone listen closely to what our defense says in the first quarter?

I heard our guys scream "[email protected]@t" as Peyton was going thru his audibles and hand gestures.

Maybe that's why he never said Omaha!?

I heard that as well, but just figured they were making that call when Peyton was calling fake audibles.

Maybe Broncos can use Windtalkers next year. Can Peyton learn Navajo?

Sherm's just setting Peyton up to throw some double move ducks his way next season.

What if Moffit gave us Mannings little secret? I would not be surprised if he has more friends on the Hawks than he does on Denver.
