Seahawks waive inspirational Nazair Jones

To clear space for rookie free agents, Seahawks waive inspirational Nazair Jones, 3 others

Rookie DT Nazair Jones on his appreciation of being in NFL after losing ability to walk at 16

The 6-foot-5 Jones was the team’s third-round draft choice in 2017 out of North Carolina. A rare disease left him in a hospital for months having to re-learn to walk when he was 16.

His was an inspirational story, reaching the NFL as a towering defensive tackle who chased quarterbacks and knocked down passes after what he’d bulled through to get there.

I’m glad we at least picked up some TEs as UDFA. We are going to corner the market

Josh Avery sounds just like the man they need in the middle to be the run stopper, and double team guy. Hope He flashes and makes the team.

There was a time I thought Naz was gonna be a real force for us, but then we stopped seeing him. Had to be real good reason for that. Bummed for him, but can't wait forever.

Gotta be a personality thing. Not sure if his effort started dipping, or if he was a negative locker room influence, or what... but he got parked in the doghouse for something.

I just wonder if some of his health issues popped up again?

Myself, I'm leaning towards the personality thing. That's just the vibe I get from how nobody said anything.

I have no way of knowing about any personality thing with him, but I sure can remember yelling and cheering when he made a big splash play for us. But most all those were when he was very new to us. Haven't seen or heard much from or about him since. In fact I wondered what happened to him. Failed physical sounds like he may have had an issue that he never really recovered from. Something is bound to leak sooner or later.
Like our pal above said, we have a lot of new bodies to worry about now.

What is the health issue?

He was on IR all last season and that started prior to camp ending. Does he have a knee problem or is his back the issue?

Too bad b/c he had a quick get off and flashed as An inside pass rusher.

Please resign him! Q Jeff minus q Jeff now. Took a few seasons to come to fruition. Naz Jones was what we saw in him as a rookie, but hasnt had much chance. He is a big de on 1st and 2nd or DT on pass plays guranteed. I remember him cutting through o lines in preseason a few years ago. He can do it if given a chance.

Sounds like it has been primarily an injury thing with Naz. Bummer because he looked very promising early on.

He was injury prone, so makes sense to let him go. I doubt he would or will ever be a player in this league, but good luck to him anyway.

Was reading the Times today. Apparently, Pete said last year when they Ired him that the knee injury was "chronic."

Too bad. Kid had good promise. But it makes sense for them to give him an injury settlement now.
