Adam Zimmer, an NFL assistant coach for 17 seasons and son of former Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, died Monday at age 38. Police say it is "not investigating this as a suspicious death."

I was wondering myself. Hate to speculate but at that age you would think if not drugs or suicide then a sudden, perhaps hidden and fatal genetic condition? No matter what, it's tragic. Sounds like he was a good man.

All they've said is that there's no evidence of foul play. They'll run a toxicology report, which if it's like the ones they do here, will take several days before the results are known.

But regardless of the cause, it's damn tragic. I feel badly for his parents. Losing a child is the worst pain imaginable. Kids are supposed to bury their parents, not the other way around.

Yeah, that's a wakeup call, isn't it? But to put it in perspective, I'm 2 years older than his dad.
