Lockette the Rocket.

&/or

Christine Michael.

Both have the speed to be excellent punt returners.

THIS.

Intercept the ball on 3rd down and call it good.

With 52 punt returns and 28 interceptions, I'd say that's a pretty stellar suggestion. When you intercept the ball roughly 35% of the time when opposing teams hand the ball back to you, the need for an outstanding punt returner diminishes greatly.

Baldwin imo... shame Harvin can't do it, and Lockette/Michael give me fumble concerns..... but returning kicks/punts are two very different skillsets

Fun Fact: On seahawks.com last year I remember checking the depth chart and they had SHERMAN as the #2 PR (actually they still do).... I'm sure he'd be fine at it (did it in college) but opposing teams getting shots at Sherman with the ball in his hands greatly concerns me.

Its all about ball security and the only guy I trust on the roster right now is Doug Baldwin. Golden Tate will be missed in this department for sure, of course we said the same thing the year before about Leon.

Seahawks have Harvin and Baldwin available to return kick plus Kearse as a back-up.

But with Tate going to Detriot, my preferred options would be:

A. Trade Robert Turbin to Tenneesee for Leon Washington + swapping 4th round picks.
B. Sign Devin Hester or Trindon Holiday to like 2 mil per
C. Look For An Inside Contributor:
Lane, Michael, perhaps Kearse or Baldwin, or Arceto Clark or Phil Bates

So Holliday got a 1-year $700K deal from the NYG and Hester wants...

$4M/year??? Wow, if he doesn't accept maybe a QUARTER of that, we may have seen the last of this guy. Unbelievable that he thinks he could get anywhere near that as a 32-year old specialist.

We'll whoever it is, I'm sure they'll be better than Tate. Tate had a few good PR's but I seriously got tired of the one's he'd let drop to scrooge the Offense on the 1yrd to 5yrd line. And those seemed to happen a lot.

Uh... what? If anything, he is far more willing to run out punt returns from the 5-yard line. Most punt returners are taught to stand at the 8-yard line and not field anything that goes over their heads.

We don't have our PR on our roster currently. It will be one of the WR's we draft. It's not uncommon that you have a rookie returning punts for you.

Percy will return kicks but I wouldn't put him back there for punts as well. PR and KR are very different.

WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT TO DUMP TURBIN

DAMMIT

NO JUST NO

He's a perfectly fine #2 back and can pass block effectively.

Yeah...It's not his fault that EVERY long carry he has gets called back because of holding penalties. His yards per carry would be up around 6 if you include those runs.

Wonder if Lane can catch?
He sure as hell can. He's often the first guy down on our punting team, and has downed many a punt on a single-digit yard line for us.

As to whether or not he can hang on to the ball in the face of would-be tacklers, I dunno.

But he can track and catch the ball fer sure.

Free agent Nate Burelson, was pretty good at it when he was here and a good receiver.
1st player with 3 seperate punt returns of 90+ yards. Seahawks franchise record holder for punt return yards in a playoff game 84 yards. And he's another Viking/Lion (well, former), our NFC North trade partners, to add to the team.

There are a handful of KR/PR prospects I like in the draft...

Kent State (RB/WR) Dri Archer 5-8 173 lbs: Draft range 4th - 6th rounds. Ran a 4.26 40-yard dash.
