RB Lamichael James has just been granted his release according to his agents tweet. Any chance the Seahawks go after him to return punts? Also, a good back up for Harvin on those Jet sweeps. Speed kills!

Oh gee, I don't know, we have HOW MANY WR's?

So it's better to replace our extra wide receiver (Walters) who has shown real promise on returns, with James? Doesn't make a lick of sense to me

Walters isn't returning punts because he doesn't protect the ball. I don't know if James is worth even taking a look at, I was simply commenting that we have such a surplus of WR's that the argument we'd have to drop someone to make room is ludicrous.

We have a punt returner, and his name is Earl.

Walters isn't returning punts because Thomas won the job.

Actually Walters has returned punts already this year and looks far more comfortable doing it. He fumbled once on a kick return is all.

Seahawk.net still thinks that pete is not a good talent evaluator especially at putting players in positions where they will excel.

Frankly, I'm cool with Earl learning Trial By Fire but with these CB injuries mounting up, you kind of need to protect these other DBs a little bit more now. So I can see the concern there.

I don't think James is all that bad, I just don't think he fits the 49ers system all that well, he could excel with a change of scenery and in Cable's ZBS.

Furthermore, I wonder if the Ravens would be in the market for an RB. For me, Robert Turbin for CB Chykie Brown would be interesting. Brown has 4.4-4.5 speed at 5'11, 195 pounds, 36.5 Vert, and 33 7/8th inch arms... yes almost 34 inch arms. He's basically Walter Thurmond 2.0

James and Michael can compete for playing time behind Lynch. And James could also assume PR duties. I like it. CB depth becomes solid again as Brown can play inside or out, RB depth takes a hit, but at least you put Michael into the fold of actually getting snaps. And the possibility of keeping Lynch around for 2015 is slightly better as well with Turbin off the roster.

It's not ludicrous because you didn't name a player you were comfortable cutting or iring to make room for James. You named a position, not a player. But if you don't want James, it's moot. Even if it's Walters.

So to anyone who wants James, name the player you're ok dropping. Then consider who you would force to be inactive on game day to make room for a kick return specialist. Michael doesn't play special teams. Feel like seeing him when he comes back? Do you want to see Norwood? Lots to consider if you want James.
