A colleague of mine who is an ortho hip specialist and also the same doc who Bob Condotta interviewed earlier in the season about Percy's hip told me that we should be concerned that it's possible that his hip may have no more cartilage given the protracted recovery. He told me if there is no more cartilage in his hip joint that his career as a football player is finished. He also told me, however, that it would be extremely unusual for such a young person to no longer have any cartilage.

Word was it's a 4-6 month recovery frame. Percy isn't yet at month 5. Is that protracted?

It is when he was far enough along in his recovery to have started practicing 7 weeks ago, played in a game a month ago without any apparent re-injury, then hasn't even practiced since then. I'd say that's a protracted recovery.

I think we're starting to realize that his "comeback" game vs. the Vikings was purely for selfish reasons, rather than he was actually healthy.

No one can tell me 10 snaps in one game was enough to set his recovery back what now, another month almost and he's still not ready to go? That tells me either Percy DOES have the ability to play sore, or he never should have played in that game in the first place..........especially if it means he might be shut down for the rest of the season.

It's my feeling that Harvin pushed himself a bit too much to get back for that game, and that he probably wasn't ready. And as a result, the team is determined not to allow that mistake to occur again, and are playing it far more conservatively than before.

We know what #12 means for seattle.. but what does 11 mean.

11 the number jermane kearse wore with the dropsies disease.
11 the number percy wore only once in seattle and has not been back.

lets hope it doesnt finish with.
11 games next year without percy
11 the total sum of wins by seatttle in 2013
11 the Number of times a week a percy thread is started.
11 the number of times pete says day to day or week to week in a week talking about percy
11 etc.etc. hahah

I would be curious what other bad 11's there are here.. we are CLEARLY 12.s

Ironically, I can think of no number luckier than the number 11.

That aside...I'm really impressed Harvin gutted it out and played against the Vikings. It took a special player to sacrifice himself for such a pivotal, crucial game. Only a soft player would have waited it out for gimme games vs. the Saints and 9ers. Percy's just not that soft.

Carroll said today it was "going to be a bit" before Harvin makes it back. Kind of sounds like we'll be lucky to see him again this season at this point.

Sure it wasn't "day to day" or "he's working a little bit on the side and we'll see how he feels and go from there".........or any of the other super vague phrases Pete's used that tells us absolutely nothing?

Carroll on Harvin: "It's looking like it's going to be a bit before we get it right. He's doing a ton of stuff to get back but..."

"...it hasn't just turned a corner. We're just going to keep taking the time it takes to get it right."

"We still have a number of games left, hopefully, and if we can get him in we'll take it when it comes."

You're right--eleven (I refuse to use the number) is some kind of cursed number in the Seahawks.

Every season after his first with the Vikes, Harvin demanded to be traded (or he'd "sit out").

Reasons: The release of his "mentor" Randy Moss. Aaron Hernandez's lucrative extension. The proposed signing of Mike Wallace.

It's been a full year since Harvin last made such a demand, which means the odds are in our favor. Too bad the Skins don't have a 1st. Harvin would be a nice complement to Griffin.

First, there was no structural damage and we could expect to see him back on the field soon, now it's going to take a while and "he can't get it right". It changes every week with Pete, either admit he's done for the season or put him on the field.

If the damage is so severe that his career is in jeopardy, cut em and be done with it. It's getting annoying at this point.

When the team goes to New York will Percy still be there or will he go elsewhere?

Nah, nobody hates Percy. They just hate having wasted a first-round pick. At least for the first year it's wasted, but after the mention of Harvin's preexisting hip condition known to lead to degenerative problems, I have to admit I don't feel optimistic.

An exclamation mark after "get a life", instead of a period, would have really driven your point home, possibly even changing the way many of us go about our day to day activities. Watch this:

Get a life!

See?

This. Quit telling other people how to feel.

If the Hawks lost a game in the postseason by a FG, would a healthy Harvin have meant a win? Don't know for sure, but I'd say on a percentage basis the odds would be like 80-90% he would have.

I'm not even close to optimistic about him either Montana. I feel like there's very, very little chance he plays another down this season and it wouldn't surprise me if he never played again. When Pete says "it's going to be a bit" that sounds very pessimistic in Pete Speak to me.

HawkWow has mentioned several of his 'attitude incidents' if you will and those are the things that make me wonder if he's got the real desire to play NFL football and I sometimes wonder if this is an extension of that. Only he knows for sure of course, but it's not totally unfair for some of us to wonder. Don't care if I get hammered for wondering something like that or not.

Sure wish the team had used the pick on a Keenan Allen or a Patterson or etc. to be a deeper threat and a kick returner. The Hawks are thin at WR and a healthy, quality guy would really help. God forbid we lose another guy at the position this season.

Man...when Allen did that leap towards the endzone last night, refusing to be denied, I could only shake my head. As bad as I feel for us, the hardcore fan, I feel worse for Pete. He and JS have worked miracles to get us where we are. Grabbing guys like Sherman and Baldwin was nothing short of genius. No "luck" involved (as fans of other teams wish to believe). I am confident Pete felt we could win it all without Harvin, but with Harvin? It was a no-brainer. So Pete struck a deal with the devil himself, rolled the dice, and now there's a chance it will all blow up in his face. Thank God job security isn't an issue here.

Few in here seem to understand this, since "our owner is the richest owner in the league"...but when JS and Pete sit down with Mr. Allen to discuss the "Harvin situation"...it can't be real comfortable when considering Harvin's past. I sincerely doubt our FO is saying "well hell, Paul, you're the richest owner in the league, what's the big deal"? This whole thing just sux...and on so many levels.
