The biggest problem I have, and have ever had is the lack of transparency regarding his issues. May we don't have the right to know... but if they would have just said after the Minnesota game that he aggrevated it, and he's going to be another 6-8 weeks, it would have sucked, but been way better then this day-day/ week-week/ Month-month crap.

There's a strategic benefit to having him on a constant day-to-day status. Opposing coaches have to waste time watching his tape and game-planning for him until he's officially declared out. Why should the Seahawks give up this benefit to appease a small group of fans who really have no entitlement to this info?

Also, everything they've said about his injury status could very well be true. Why would they declare him out for 6-8 weeks if they didn't know that with absolute certainty?

Saving Harvin for the playoffs makes more sense at this point. Even though he hasn't as been productive as some have hoped having him wait until we need him is better than putting him earlier than necessary to try to get our "money's worth" and him aggravating his hip even more.

According to this story we had a pretty good idea of what we were getting into.
every NFL team that examined Harvin at the 2009 scouting combine knew he had impingement and tightness in both hips as well as weak abductor muscles, two people with knowledge of those examinations told USA TODAY Sports. The people spoke on condition of anonymity since the results were not released.

A study published in January — co-authored by Vikings team physician Christopher Larson, Tennessee Titans team physician Thomas Byrd and hip specialist Bryan Kelly — suggests there is at least a 40% chance a player with those risk factors will eventually require hip surgery or other treatment for degenerative conditions.

True dat. PC love mind-fck games. There is this whole covert ops thing going on with whether he'll actually get some run. It keeps the opponent from game-planning for what they'll really see as much as they otherwise would.

Well said DavidSeven. It'll be cool to see him brought in as a complete surprise, perhaps on a kickoff return and rip off another big one. I'm just gonna watch the games and let them figure out who comes back when.

He's made 2 plays all season so I FIFY.

True....but there's nothing saying he won't make 2 more. ; )

Also true.

I promised myself I would be more optimistic. 2 more touches and he doubles his season total! Not many players can say that. ; )

If those 2 touches come in the Super Bowl and contribute to a win there, he's worth everything we paid for him, IMO.

Even then, they'd have to be TDs or game changers (that another player would not have been able to make).

If we see him, great, if not, we'll still win the whole thing. I want him on the field as much as anyone else, but geezus it's getting old hearing about this stuff every week.
Oh well, he's an incredible player, hopefully come playoff time, they'll unleash him.

His story is like a train wreck you just can't look away from. I can always tune out, if I choose to do so, so these threads are strictly optional. The only complaint I would have about the Harvin threads, is I think our attention would be better served if given to another player on the team.

Percy did not practice again on Thursday. So at this point, has he earned more or less than $1 million per snap played?

A colleague of mine who is an ortho hip specialist and also the same doc who Bob Condotta interviewed earlier in the season about Percy's hip told me that we should be concerned that it's possible that his hip may have no more cartilage given the protracted recovery. He told me if there is no more cartilage in his hip joint that his career as a football player is finished. He also told me, however, that it would be extremely unusual for such a young person to no longer have any cartilage.

Word was it's a 4-6 month recovery frame. Percy isn't yet at month 5. Is that protracted?

It is when he was far enough along in his recovery to have started practicing 7 weeks ago, played in a game a month ago without any apparent re-injury, then hasn't even practiced since then. I'd say that's a protracted recovery.
