Eight Alternates
http://www.seahawks.com/news/2016/12/20 ... liff-avril

Another eight Seahawks were named Pro Bowl alternates, meaning they could be added to the team later if other players drop out: receiver Doug Baldwin, center Justin Britt, safety Kam Chancellor, tight end Jimmy Graham, kicker Steven Hauschka, return specialist Tyler Lockett, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker K.J. Wright.

Earl should be an alternate over Russell (positional stuff aside, purely talking Seahawks).

Nice!

The list was clearly run past Richard Sherman for His stamp of approval and certification.

(ducking.....!)

Earl is on IR and I don't think players on IR are eligible, although I could be wrong about that. Another example is Gronk, he wasn't selected either, but I'm sure if he wasn't on IR he would have been.

Congrats Seahawk pro-bowlers....but I hope I don't see any of you playing in the pro bowl game. You've got a bigger game to prepare for!

Just as a point of correction on the thread title, the Hawks have two starters (Avril and Wagner) and two reserves (Bennett and Sherman). Then they have 8 alternates (first, second, and third) when and if people who made the pro bowl decline the invitation.

The only really story here (momentarily pretending that the pro bowl is even worth acknowledging) is that the Lions are leading their division and got completely shut out of the pro bowl.

Two of their four alternates are their punter and kicker too.

To have Dak in place of Drew Brees is the most ridiculous snub. It's just nuts.

No Frank Clark as an alternate with 10 sacks?

Gronk had a horrible year and had zero chance of being in the Pro Bowl, IR or not. I think Earl would have made it barring injury.

Pro Bowler Justin Britt. How about that?

When I started thinking about this, I had to sit down.

This makes sense, JJ Watt didn't make it either.

The pro bowl is a joke. They ruined that game and the entire selection process back in the 70's. I was at the game in L.A. in the mid 70's and the crowd was so entirely MEH (mainly because the Rams had been ousted in the playoffs) that the NFL got the idea to host it in Hawaii.

Oh that was brilliant. Then they decided to really mess it up and it is what you see now.

Who cares about who is selected or who plays, it is a J O K E.
