Now our countdown is in the single-digit numbers. Nine days until we can watch real Seahawks football again, and ONE WEEK until the first Blue Friday of the season.
Seahawks uniform number 9 is currently being used by running back Kenneth Walker III, "K-9."
Since I'm a big nerd who was a kid in the '70s and an adolescent in the '80s, I'll post this pic:
There are two important players from Seahawks history we can mention here today.
The first one is Norm Johnson, the Seahawks' place kicker from '82 to '90.
But if I had to choose just one Seahawks #9, it would be one of the greatest passers the NFL has ever known, and one of the greatest NFL players ever to come from Canada. It's only because of him that I know how the name of the Canadian city of Regina is pronounced. After ten years in the NFL, this guy's career passer rating was 116.7, his ANY/A was an otherworldly 13.5, and he never threw a single interception, nor was he ever sacked.
Additionally, this #9 threw a key TD pass that helped the Seahawks come back to win the NFC Championship Game after having fallen way behind because the other guy throwing passes for the Seahawks that day was sacked five times, fumbled once (Seahawks recovered), and threw four interceptions.
It's also worth mentioning this #9's main outstanding quality, shown on that same key play in the NFCCG: he has the greatest "throwing face" the world has ever seen, and the pic below is of exactly that.
This #9 was pretty good at punting too.
Ladies and gentlemen, Jon Ryan.
