Kind of interesting parallels in terms of the two teams' records while rebuilding.
Johnson took over a Cowboys team that had gone 7-9, 7-8 and 3-13 the previous three seasons (avg. 5.67 wins). After he was hired, the Cowboys went 1-15, 7-9, 11-5 (won in the Wildcard; lost in the Divisional playoff game), then 13-3 with a Super Bowl win.
Pete took over a team that had gone 10-6, 4-12 and 5-11 in the previous three seasons (avg. 6.33 wins). After he was hired, the Hawks went 7-9, 7-9, 11-5 (won in the Wildcard; lost in the Divisional playoff game), then 13-3 with a Super Bowl win.
Jimmy's and Pete's years 2, 3 and 4 are identical in terms of wins. Jimmy and the 'boys won 2 Super Bowls in a row, then things got dicey between Crazy Jerry and Jimmy. I don't see Paul Allen ever interfering the way Jerry did (and still does).
The one thing that makes it harder for Pete is the salary cap. Jerry didn't have one to deal with.
If the Hawks can manage the cap, things look bright indeed.
