still Him, luv the kid
Abomination game.
He will put it behind him
Not a single QB in this game has the same caliber of weapons at his disposal. The 49ers would be the same with Darnold or Jimmy G at the helm. Purdy isn't the guy to put the team on his back. He's just a point guard. A good one, but nothing more.

absolutely right, a point guard type qb who elevates the offense above anything Jimmy ever accomplished. house money

Once Purdy's All Pro O-Line started getting sidelined w/injuries the timing taking a hit and the Run Game quelled, Shanahan's System Quarterback looked purdy Pedestrian.

Uh I’m pretty sure Jimmy G did really well in his 6 games when he had the same weapons. So Purdy is replaceable. I go back to the Niners losing streak earlier in the season and you can see how well Purdy does with out all his weapons (minus deebo). That tells me what you have in Purdy

all correct, although not sure the Oline is all pro. Trent is, others are decent/good, a few can be problems depending on the matchups.

I could easily see the Niners moving on from Purdy after the Baltimore game and
he will probably get cut at the end of the season to save cap room for 2024.
Yes.

Christian McCaffrey and Deebo aren't that good at football that they elevate their QB to MVP status no matter whom.

This is a ridiculous debate at this point, Purdy is damn good and suggesting otherwise is either ignorance (aka, don't actually watch him play week to week), fandom (this is the acceptable reason), or football stupidity.

He's lost 5 games in almost 2 full years.

Then why wasn’t Purdy so damn good without Deebo?

Edit: I feel he’s only doing so well because he has Deebo, Kittle and McCaffrey. So yea CM and Deebo themself don’t elevate their QB, but when you have all 3? It’s easier to scheme against 2 of those 3 than all 3. Isn’t that why they drafted Trey? To try and make it that much harder for the defense to have to account for another runner.

Probably because QBs usually don't do as well with their top option sidelined.

It's not as if Purdy just throws it up and these super-humans grab a ball out of nowhere. Purdy has consistently dotted them in space with room to run. Yeah, they're good, but you still have to hit them in the hands and find them when they're open.

He is good. And his supporting cast is great enough to elevate him into the MVP conversation. Suggesting otherwise is just silly. The Niners had a top 5 offense and defense before Purdy started a game.

But that’s the thing. The weapons are there. If you had a healthy Jimmy G who had the same salary hit as Brock, would they be drastically different? Brock consistently dotted them in space when he had all the weapons. He’s above average/average/subpar without all the weapons the niners have on their roster. A damn good QB to me is somebody who can make the players around him better, not the other way around.

Jimmy G is 43-20 in his career. Maybe Jimmy G was also pretty good.

maybe he is. Very possible his record with the niners would be way better if he had McCaffrey earlier on (38-17 with SF). Maybe he’s more like the 3-3 QB that he is with the Raiders? They only really have Adams, but if they had Raiders Waller and a healthy/better utilized Josh Jacobs his win percentage may be closer to what he had with SF?

He's not been good when the 49ers fall behind. He's going to need to be if they hope to win a SB.

An interesting stat they mentioned is that when Purdy throws at or behind the line of scrimmage he averages 9 YPA. That seems extremely high and would obviously inflate his stats.

On their own, no. But together with Kittle, teams struggle to stop all 3. The 3 together elevate Purdy.

This seems to be true. When the 49ers fall behind in score, Purdy falls apart and throws tons of picks.

He has to play with a lead to win. That won't win many superb owls...

They haven’t had a good line all year.
