I remember John Schneider talking about the draft in a radio interview a couple years ago. He said the team will trade to add picks every year so they can choose about 10 guys. The reason being they want to be able to constantly develop guys at the bottom of the roster because good teams will lose good players each season based solely on the cap squeeze. He felt drafting extra players gave teams a higher boom potential on a few players and minimized the damage of losing studs in free agency.

I think we'll be surprised in coming seasons just how willing the teams is to part with guys who have solid depth behind them. Guys like Maxwell, Lane and Thurmond might be starters soon.
