To be fair, Alice, a lot of this thread was once said almost verbatim about Shaun Alexander here. That's kind of been forgotten in recent times what with more physical backs like Lynch and Carson, but Alexander was routinely criticized here for avoiding tackles and benefiting from a great offensive line, especially in 2007 when he played on a broken foot.

:poundhead:
^ This. Many of us crapped all over Alexander. He was overrated due to our fantastic O-line.

The great John Madden said one time about Alexander, " he will last a long time in this league. He never gets tackled."
He would rather go out of bounds 3 yards early than get tackled. A great OLINE does this for you.

Yeah... It's kind of embarrassing to see the lengths people will go to delegitimize one of the best RBs in the league.

If people really want to find a fault in the Rams offense they should look at Goff, not Gurley.

You know who isn't a fraud? Aaron Donald.

True.

He is the MVP of the League. If defined as best player at his position, relative to all other players at their positions. He is about as impact-full as you can get as a Non-Quarterback.

He would get my vote.

Bumping for NFCCG epicness.

On display for all to see. He is a F.R.A.U.D. .

CJ Anderson is the better back.

Well, he is certainly no Sproles or Forte when it comes to receiving out of the backfield.

Gurley singlehandedly setting fire to the LA playoff hopes.

Not only not running effectively, which okay maybe there's an injury, but tipping balls to defenders and dropping easy third down catches to stall a red zone drive.

Obvs he can play better next year but this is a performance worthy of ridicule.

Kinda fun.

He had a pretty bad first half.

Also scored the only Rams TD of the game so far.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not saying gurley is awful or won't play better.

But was gurley the author of that drive in any meaningful way whatsoever? Would Anderson not have gotten that score? Gurley held onto the football is about the most you'd say.

That felt like mcvey letting gurley get this six to try to get him out of a funk.

Anderson may very well have gotten that TD, but he might not have. I don't know.

Fact is though, Gurley did get the TD.

Totally fair I just disagree that being handed the ball for the coup de grace on a drive offsets his earlier negative contributions. In fact it kinda did Anderson dirty IMO. And it was no chris Carson run.

To me if gurley popped for a couple of key runs on a drive that would go further but YMMV
